Scholarships in Teacher Education, Multiple Levels

Emily A. Howard Award

Award: $200, Deadline: February 14

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and at least 60 credit hours and must be known as one who uses his/her hardships as challenges to grow stronger and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to become a teacher.

 

Alice Lancaster

Award: $300, Deadline: February 14

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and 80 credit hours, demonstrate financial need, and be enrolled in the Teacher Education Department and seeking elementary teacher certification. Preference is given to applicant with the best letter of intent.

 

Military Order of Purple Heart Scholarship

Award: $200, Deadline: February 14

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be accepted in the Teacher Education Program, have the recommendation of an instructor, and demonstrate prior professional training in serving the disabled. Applicant must submit letter describing career goals and concern for and experience with the disabled.

 

Sharon Peterson Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be enrolled full-time in the Teacher Education Program. Preference is given to applicant with a record of volunteer service as a coach or teacher.

 

Kenneth W. Heikes Family Endowed Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and a minimum 3.25 GPA in major, be enrolled in the teacher education program, and demonstrate financial need.

 

McKissack Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: September 30

Applicant must be a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA enrolled in either the teacher education or business administration/grantsmanship at the associate or certificate level who has not yet earned an associate or baccalaureate degree. Financial need and leadership through participation in college clubs or community organizations must be demonstrated
