Award: $5,000, Deadline: July 31
Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be a current sophomore enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Finance at a four-year accredited college or university in the United States; selected recipient must be enrolled as a junior during the following academic year. Program will be open as of fall 2009.

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale who plans to enroll as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at a four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

Students must write an essay on the topic, "You have been invited to talk to the future U.S. Secretary of Education. What would you say?" Selection is based on content, originality, clarity, insight and writing quality.
