SCPA Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a West Virginia resident whose family member is employed or has been previously employed by the coal industry within Southern West Virginia. Employee must work for a company involved in the mining and processing of coal that is located within the following W.Va. counties: Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Roane, Summers, Wayne, Webster, and Wyoming. Selection is based upon financial need.

 

Geraldine Gee Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a resident of Boone County who plans to study nursing at the start of their sophomore year. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

R. Ray Singleton Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a resident in one of the following counties: Boone, Clay, Fayette, Kanawha, Lincoln, or Putnam. Applicant must be attending a college or university in West Virginia. Minimum 2.5 GPA and composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

Westmoreland Coal Company Fund for Medical Students Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a West Virginia resident who is attending an accredited medical college full time. Preference given to Boone County residents. Recipient must agree to practice medicine in Boone County, W.Va., upon completion of schooling for a period of time specified in scholarship application.

 

Kanawha Valley Grant

Award: $7,000, Deadline: February 1 (priority)

Applicant must be from Boone, Clay, Fayette, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Putnam, Raleigh, Roane and counties.

 

Shepherd Family Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a resident of Boone, Clay, Fayette, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln or Putnam County. Applicant must be attending the University of Charleston pursing a degree in nursing. Minimum 2.5 GPA and composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

McKelvey Foundation Bronze Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: February 5

Applicant either must have graduated from high school at least one year prior to application date and were unable to go to college because of financial considerations or had to leave college because of financial considerations. Applicant must reside on campus in a double room and must complete 25 hours of community service each year. Applicant must apply for financial aid via FAFSA each year and apply for additional scholarships.
