Good Tidings Foundation Community Service Scholarship

Applicant must be a high school senior in the graduating class of 2015 with financial need and extraordinary community service accomplishments (far exceeding "minimum service hours" required by schools). Applicant must Reside in one of the following California counties: San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, Merced, Stanislaus, Alameda, San Joaquin, Contra Costa, Solano, Yolo, Napa, Sonoma, or Marin. Essay describing unique community service activities and letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, charity director, or person familiar with your community service are required.

Applicant must be self-identified as an Asian/Pacific Islander (at least 25% Asian/Pacific Islander ancestry), be living in one of the nine Bay Area counties: Alemeda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano, be in the process of applying to or enrolled at a postsecondary institution, and have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Preference given to applicants self-identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender or involved in the LGBT community. Application form, transcripts, letter of recommendation from a teacher, school administrator, counselor, employer, or community leader highlighting community activism and leadership skills, and essay required.

 

Joseph Towner Fund for Gay and Lesbian Families

Applicant must be the child of a lesbian or gay parent who resides in one of the following nine Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano. Applicant must be 25 years of age or younger, have a minimum 2.5 GPA or GED certificate, if applicable, be enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution, and carry a full-time academic work load (minimum 12 units per term). Adobe Systems Computer Science Scholarship

Applicant must be a woman, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be in an ABET-accredited or SWE-approved institution. Preference is given to students attending selected schools in the San Francisco Bay area.

 

Banatao Filipino American Education Fund College Scholarship

Applicant must be a current high school senior who is at least half Filipino and a resident of one of the following California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Orange, Sacramento, San Benito, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, or Stanislaus. Applicant must be planning to attend a four-year college or university and major in engineering, mathematics, computer science, environmental science, or a physical science. Minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need are required.

 

HSF/Citi Fellow Scholarship Program

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be a current sophomore enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Finance at a four-year accredited college or university in the United States; selected recipient must be enrolled as a junior during the following academic year. Program will be open as of fall 2009.

 

Kaiser Permanente College To Caring Program

Award: $8,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent who is a rising junior or senior in college pursing a bachelors degree in nursing for the upcoming year. Financial need is required. Recipient will also have the possibility of interning at a Kaiser Permanente facility.

 

HSF/Nissan Community College Transfer Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must be currently enrolled at a community college with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have plans to transfer and enroll as a full-time student pursuing a degree in business, engineering, communications, or media arts at a four-year accredited institution. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

Robert W. Thunen Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student (junior or senior) at an accredited four-year college or university who would like to study illumination as a career; graduate applicants must be undertaking a lighting-centered project as part of work towards a graduate degree. Statement of Purpose and minimum of three letters of recommendation are required to be submitted.

 

Nathan Jay Friedman College Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a Jewish high school senior who will attend a University of California campus. Applicant's parents must be permanent residents of San Francisco, the Peninsula (Sunnyvale and north), Marin, or Sonoma County. Minimum 3.5 GPA, financial need, and demonstrated Jewish involvement required. Preference given to graduates of San Francisco's Lowell or Washington High School.

 

Jack and Elisa Klein Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a Jewish undergraduate student at a four-year accredited college or university. Applicant's parents must be permanent residents of San Francisco, the Peninsula (Sunnyvale and north), Marin, or Sonoma County.
