Scholarships in Mendocino

Collegiate Academic Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: June 30

Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent with a minimum 2.0 GPA, and must be a resident of northern California or be attending a school in northern California.

 

Kaiser Permanente College To Caring Program

Award: $8,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent who is a rising junior or senior in college pursing a bachelors degree in nursing for the upcoming year. Financial need is required. Recipient will also have the possibility of interning at a Kaiser Permanente facility.

 

HSF/Nissan Community College Transfer Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must be currently enrolled at a community college with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have plans to transfer and enroll as a full-time student pursuing a degree in business, engineering, communications, or media arts at a four-year accredited institution. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

California Retired Teachers Association Division 55 Bessie Scott Scholarship Fund

Award: $500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino County public high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university to study education. Selection is based upon ability and aptitude for a teaching career, prior academic performance, and community and/or extracurricular activities.

 

California Retired Teachers Association Division 55 Hilmer Finne Scholarship Fund

Award: $500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino County public high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university to pursue a career in music. Selection based upon commitment to music, proven talent, and positive outlook; prior academic performance; and community and/or extracurricular involvement.

 

Alma and August Mendosa Scholarship Fund

Award: $4,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university. Selection is based upon potential for academic success, financial need, and community and/or extracurricular activities.

 

Jerry Juhl Fund for the Arts

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino, Fort Bragg, or Point Area high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university and study the performing arts, including music, dance, theatre, film, and puppetry. Selection based upon potential for career success in the performing arts and their prior academic performance. Minimum 3.0 GPA is desired, but not required.

 

Richard T. Torkelson Memorial Scholarship Fund for Journalism

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a resident of Sonoma, Lake, or Mendocino counties who plans to or is currently majoring in communications or journalism.

 

Robert W. Thunen Memorial Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student (junior or senior) at an accredited four-year college or university who would like to study illumination as a career; graduate applicants must be undertaking a lighting-centered project as part of work towards a graduate degree. Statement of Purpose and minimum of three letters of recommendation are required to be submitted.
