MALDEF Law School Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: January 27

Applicant must be enrolled at a U.S. accredited law school and demonstrate a commitment to advancing the civil rights of the Latino community. Resume, personal statement, transcripts, and one letter of recommendation required. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

The United Methodist General Scholarship

Award: $2,030, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year who is a college student at a U.S. accredited institution. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least three years.

 

The Allan Jerome Burry Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior at an accredited U.S. institution who is an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years. Nomination from campus minister/chaplain and minimum 3.0 GPA required. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least 3 years.

 

The Bishop Joseph B. Bethea Scholarship

Applicant must be a member of the Southeastern Jurisdiction Black Methodists for Church Renewal. Must be an undergraduate student at a U.S. accredited institution with a Minimum 2.8 GPA. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least three years. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

The Coleman Tyson Siekman Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an endorsed clergy or pursuing endorsement through the United Methodist Endorsing Agency for correctional ministry. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least three years.

 

The David W. Self Scholarship

Applicant must be an incoming freshman college student who is pursuing a church related career. Must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least three years.

 

The E. Craig Brandenburg Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year who is at least 35 years old and is continuing their education or going into a second career. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least three years.

 

The Edith M. Allen Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an African-American college student pursuing a degree in education, social work, medicine, or other health professions. Must be enrolled at a United Methodist college/university with at least B+ average and be an active member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years.

 

The Elvina Jane Owen Award

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year who is a college student pursuing a degree in education. Minimum 2.85 GPA and full-time enrollment status required. Preference given to students in the Jonestown District of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference.

 

The Esther Edwards Graduate Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a female administrator or faculty member working for a United Methodist related institution and pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education administration. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

The Ethnic Minority Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must an undergraduate student of Native American, Asian, African American, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander descent pursuing their first degree. Must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required.

 

The Fred Heather Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an endorsed individual who is completing requirements for a professional certification, advanced training, or the Association of Clinical Pastor Education super-visor certification.

 

The Georgia Harkness Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a female who is at least 35 years old pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at any university senate approved school of theology. Preference given to those who have chosen ministry as a second career. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

The HANA Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be of Hispanic, Asian, Native American, or Pacific Island descent who is an upper level undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student and has been a full and active member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years. Minimum 2.85 GPA required.

 

The Helen and Allen Brown Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an undergraduate racial/ethnic minority student from either the Nashville District of the Tennessee Annual Conference or the New Orleans District of the Louisiana Annual Conference. Must be a member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

The Joe and Trudy Thaxton Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an active member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford, Virginia. Participation in the church and community must be demonstrated. Must be a college student at an accredited institution in the U.S. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

The Miriam Hoffman Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must an undergraduate or graduate student who is pursuing a vocational career in music education or music ministry. Must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required.

 

The Native American Seminary Award

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a Native American student who is pursuing a degree at a University Senate approved seminary. Must be a member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years and have documentation of tribal affiliation. Involvement in the Native American community must be demonstrated.

 

The Rev. Charles W. Tadlock Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a certified candidate for ordination as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. Must have completed first year in seminary and is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. Preference given to candidates from the Missouri Annual Conference. Minimum 2.85 GPA required.

 

The Rev. Dr. Karen Layman Gift of Hope: 21st Century Scholars Program

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an undergraduate student who has been a member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years. Minimum 3.0 GPA required. Strong leadership in the United Methodist Church must be demonstrated.

 

The Richard S. Smith Scholarship

Applicant must be a racial/ethnic minority incoming freshman student who is pursuing a church related career. Must be an active member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required.

 

The Rosalie Bentzinger Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an ordained deacon pursuing a Ph.D. in Christian Education who is enrolled in a University Senate approved Seminary. Must be a member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

The Special Seminary Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a seminary student pursuing ordained ministry as a vocation under 30 years old. Must be attending a United Methodist related seminary or school of theology. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required.

 

CESDA Scholarship Program

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 7

Applicant must be a Colorado resident who is a first generation student or member of an underrepresented ethnic or racial minority with financial need. Must be enrolled in a two or four year Colorado college with a minimum 2.8 GPA. Essay under 1,000 words required.

 

Fiesta del Sol Guadalupe A. Reyes Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 14

Applicant must be a student of Latino/Hispanic descent who resides on the Southwest side of Chicago. Must plan to enroll in an accredited college/university and be a volunteer in a Fiesta de Sol committee. Minimum 2.5 GPA, two letters of recommendation, official transcript, copy of federal tax form, resume, and personal statement required. Community service and financial need must be demonstrated.

 

A.R.E. Los Angeles Chapter Scholarship

Applicant must be an undocumented/AB 540/ or DACA student who is a graduating student at a Los Angeles county high school. Required to attend Annual A.R.E Banquet in June. Financial need and extra-curricular activities must be demonstrated. Three short essays and two letters of recommendation required.

 

The Marilynn Smith Scholarship

Applicant must be legal U.S. resident who is a female high school senior that has played golf in high school and will continue to play at an accredited college/university in the United States. Minium 3.2 GPA, official transcript, and three letters of recommendation required.

 

The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship

Award: $1,250, Deadline: May 15

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident who is a female high school senior from a minority background that has played golf in high school and will continue to play at an accredited college/university. Minimum 3.0 GPA, transcript, copy of Student Aid Report, essay, and two letters of recommendation required. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be a citizen of the United States, Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chile, Peru, Canada, Mexico or Australia who is a full-time undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior that is majoring in mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, or geology. Questionnaire, personal essay, and unofficial transcript required.
