Tuition Exchange Scholarship

Award: $25,000, Deadline: Varies by Tuition Exchange member institution

Applicant must be a family member or dependent of an employee at one of the approximately 625 participating Tuition Exchange colleges and universities.

 

CDV - Remission of Fees

Award: -, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be the child of a disabled veteran who served on active duty during wartime. Award may be used at Indiana state schools only.

 

MESBEC Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 15 (fall); September 15 (spring); March 15 (summer)

Applicant must be at least one-quarter Native American and be an enrolled member of a U.S. tribe that is federally recognized, state-recognized, or terminated, with high GPA and test scores and be enrolled in an accredited college or university.

 

South Carolina Teacher Loan

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 15 (priority deadline)

Applicant must be a South Carolina resident and fall into one of the following categories: be a freshmen student who ranks in the top 40% of their high school graduating class, and meets state average SAT scores; a returning undergraduate with a minimum 2.75 GPA and who takes the Praxis I exam; or a graduate student who has a minimum 3.5 GPA. All applicants must be pursuing a teacher education and must agree to teach in a critical geographic or subject area in South Carolina.

 

College Scholarship Competition

Award: $5,000, Deadline: December 1

 

North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship/Loan

Award: $6,500, Deadline: October 22

Applicant must be a North Carolina resident and a U.S. citizen. Selection is based upon GPA, class rank, standardized test scores, writing samples, community service, extracurricular activities, interview, and references.

 

Indiana Minority Teacher Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be a black or Hispanic Indiana resident with a minimum 2.0 GPA who agrees to teach in Indiana upon certification. Award may be used at Indiana schools only.

 

Minority Teachers of Illinois Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a minority student of African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American or Native American origin. Applicant must be enrolled in a teacher education program or curriculum leading to initial teacher certification at a qualified Illinois institution of higher education.

 

Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship Grant for Prospective Educators

Award: $1,250, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a current high school senior or college undergraduate student looking to, or already majoring in education. Selection is based upon recommendations, written essay, academic standing, and leadership activities.

 

Educators for Maine Forgivable Loan

Award: $3,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student who has been accepted into a post-secondary degree program. Applicant must be pursuing initial certification as a teacher, including speech pathology or child care provider qualifications.

 

Anne Waters Ramsey Scholarship

Award: $675, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student with a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200 (minimum composite ACT score of 27) who is majoring in education.

 

Betty Lane Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student with a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200 (minimum composite ACT score of 27) who is majoring in education, family and consumer sciences, fashion merchandising and apparel design, hotel and restaurant management, interior design, or nutrition and food science/dietetics.

 

Andrew S. Edwards Scholarship

Award: $1,400, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student from Berrien, Bulloch, or Putnam Counties and majoring in Education, Humanities, or Science. Financial need will be considered.

 

Jim and Ruth Miller Scholarship

Award: $1,200, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student with a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200 (minimum composite ACT score of 27) who is majoring in education. Financial need is considered.

 

Kansas Teacher Service Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a Kansas resident attending a Kansas school, with high academic credentials and in a program leading to teacher certification in a "hard-to-fill" discipline or under-served geographic area. Preference given to college juniors and seniors and current teachers seeking license or endorsement in hard to fill disciplines.

 

NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship Program

Award: $27,500, Deadline: October 5

Applicant must be a candidate for a doctoral degree at a graduate institution within the United States. Award is to support the final analysis of the research topic and writing of a dissertation.

 

Educators for Maine Loan

Award: $3,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a Maine resident.

 

Tennessee Teaching Scholars

Award: $4,500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Tennessee resident and United States citizen who is a college junior, senior, and post-baccalaureate student admitted to a teacher education program at an eligible Tennessee post-secondary institution. Undergraduate applicants must be enrolled full-time; graduate students at least half-time. Applicant may not be a licensed teacher or have received the scholarship while employed in a teaching position.

 

Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago Academic Scholarship Program

Award: $8,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be Jewish who was born/raised in the Chicago Metropolitan area or who has one year of employment in the Chicago area prior to entering school. Undergraduate applicants must be entering their junior or senior year; graduate applicants must be entering an accredited, professional graduate school as a full-time student. Applicant must plan to remain in Chicago after completing school and have the intention to be in a career in the helping professions. Personal interview required.

 

Virginia Valk Fehsenfeld Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a resident of Kent County, Mich., have a minimum 3.4 GPA. Selection is based upon academic achievement, extracurricular activities, personal statement, and financial need.

 

Teacher Education Loan

Award: $250, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a Wisconsin resident enrolled in a teacher education program at the Milwaukee Teacher Education Center and agree to teach in the Wisconsin school district operating under Chapter 119 of the Wisconsin state statutes, First Class City School System (currently only Milwaukee public schools).

 

Elderhostel K. Patricia Cross Doctoral Research Grant

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a doctoral student researching topics relevant to aging and later-life learning. Graduate students whose research focuses on topics relevant to Elderhostel or later-life learning are also encourage to apply.

 

Philip and Alice Angell Eastern Star Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who will pursue a degree in business or education at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need and minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA required.

 

Sgt. Major Douglas R. Drum Memorial

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 8

Applicant must be a current member of AMRA or the spouse, dependent child, or grandchild (one who can be claimed as a dependent on their parents' income tax return) of a current member and who are full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in education at a two- or four-year accredited college or university. Half of scholarships are awarded in the fall semester, the other half, in the spring semester.

 

Future Teachers Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be an Oklahoma resident who plans to teach in a critical subject shortage area in Oklahoma. Essay required. Award may be used at Oklahoma public and private colleges only.

 

Minority Teachers Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must be an African-American, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American resident of Arkansas, with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicant must attend an approved Arkansas school, have completed 60 semester credit hours, and been admitted to a teacher education program or successfully passed PPST examination.

 

Underwood-Smith Teacher Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a West Virginia resident who are or will be enrolled on a full-time basis in an accredited institution of higher education in West Virginia pursuing a course of study leading to a teacher certificate at the pre-school, middle, or secondary level in West Virginia.

 

Trinity College of Vermont Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont pursuing a degree in social work or education at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need, community involvement/service and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

Vermont State Grange Cobble Hill Grange Scholarship (Education)

Award: $500, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont pursuing a degree in education at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Academic achievement and financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellowship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: January 10

Applicant must be a woman, elementary or secondary public school teacher, U.S. citizen, dedicated to improving educational opportunities for women of all ages, presently employed with at least three years full-time teaching experience, and planning to continue teaching for the next three years. Award supports professional development for teachers, educational opportunities for girls, and advancement of gender equity in the classroom, school, or district.
