New Voices Young Playwrights Contest

Applicant must submit one original 10-minute play no more than 10 typed pages long. Musicals, children's shows, and plays that have received Equity production or have been previously submitted are not eligible.

 

Playwright Discovery Award

Applicant must be in middle school or high school. An one-act play must be submitted.

 

High School Oratorical Contest

Applicant must be U.S. citizen and high school student who is under the age of 20. Applicants are required to prepare an oration lasting between three to five minutes on an aspect of the Constitution of the United States.

 

Young Artist International Competition

Applicant must be a pianist between the ages of 11 and 18.

 

American Legion Americanism Essay Contest

Award: $1,200, Deadline: February 3

Applicant must attend an accredited Illinois high school and write a 500-word essay. Award amount varies depending on class level.

 

Uan Rasey Memorial Scholarship for Trumpet

Award: $2,500, Deadline: September 24

Applicant must be a resident of southern California, and must demonstrate exceptional talent and financial need. Instrumentalists and pianists may apply through the completion of their senior year of high school. Vocalists must be between the ages of 12 and 26. Audition required.

 

Horkheimer Award

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be under age 19 and a member of the Astronomical League. Service to the League must be demonstrated.

 

Neuroscience Research Prize

Applicant must be a high school student. Application must represent original laboratory research as well as the original written work of the applicant.

 

Young Artist Competition

Applicant must be a full-time student between the ages of 13 and 19 who is a high school student attending any public, private, parochial, or home high school in Greater Houston, TX. Applicant must be an instrumental musician and/or vocalist performing as a soloist or in an ensemble comprised of no more than five student musicians.

 

Knights of Pythias Poster Contest

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must be a high school student in the United States or Canada.

 

Youth Incentive Award

Award: $400, Deadline: September 1

Applicant must be a high school student who submits a proposal for topics such as field collecting trips to conduct beetle species inventories or diversity studies, attending workshops or visiting entomology or natural history museums for special training and projects on beetles, studying aspects of beetle biology, etc. The proposed activities or projects will be evaluated on their degree of creativity, educational benefit to the applicant, scientific merit, feasibility and budgetary planning.

 

American Legion - Connecticut Oratorical Contest

Applicant must prepare an oration on an assigned topic. Recipients of the regional awards will go on to participate in the national competition.

 

Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship

Applicants must be 9th-12th grade high school students, college students or graduate school students who are legal U.S. residents. Students may study any major and attend any college in the U.S.

 

National Merit Scholarship for Sons and Daughters

Applicant must be the child of an Cargill employee working on a permanent full-time or part-time basis. Applicant should apply during junior year of high school and must take PSAT/NMSC test in October of that year. Selection is based upon test scores, academic record, and other accomplishments. Award amounts are determined by financial need.

 

Susan Schulman Begley Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a woman who is a resident of the Greater Los Angeles area. Applicant must be establishing herself as a single-parent head of household and does not have adequate financial funds for immediate needs due to extreme circumstances following the dissolution of an abusive or emotionally traumatic relationship.

 

Youth Concerto Competition

Award: $500, Deadline: April 26

Applicant must be a North Carolina resident or a full-time student at a North Carolina school. Awards are in two divisions, for ages 10 to 15 and ages 16 to 21. Audition required.

 

Davidson Fellows Scholarship

Award: $50,000, Deadline: Second Wednesday in February

Applicant must be 18 years old or younger who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Selection based upon outstanding achievements in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, music, literature, and/or philosophy. Each submission must be an original piece of work recognized by experts in the field as "significant" and it must have the potential to make a positive contribution to society.

Family Travel Forum Teen Travel Writing Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: July 13

Applicants must be members of the MyFamilyTravels.com online community and be between the ages of 13 and 18. They must be in grades 8 through 12 and must be attending a U.S. or Canadian high school, U.S. or Canadian junior high school, U.S. home school or an American school located outside of the U.S. They must submit an essay about a significant travel experience that occurred within the past three years and that happened when the applicant was between the ages of 12 and 18. Selection is based on originality, quality of storytelling and grammar.

 

Civil Rights Defense Fund Youth Essay Contest
