National Orchestral Institute Scholarship

Applicant must be a talented musician age 18 to 28 on the threshold of a professional career. Awards are for participation in a three-week orchestral training program held each June.

Vollmer Scholarship in the Arts

For music, award is based upon the audition for acceptance. For art, award is based upon a portfolio that must be presented to the department. For theatre, the award is dependent upon previous acting experience and a written statement. For dance, award is based upon the audition for acceptance.

Glenn Miller Scholarship

Applicant must intend to make music a central part of their life and submit an audio cassette. Applicant should send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with request for competition announcement or visit sponsor's website for more information. Live audition required.

 

Talent Award

Award: $12,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must audition or submit a portfolio for review.

 

Senator James M. Jeffords Endowed Scholarship to Honor Marion Hausman Jeffords

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a graduating senior who will pursue a degree in the arts at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Academic achievement and financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Bernice Barnard Music Specialist Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: Varies

Applicant must be from the city of Ojai or Ventura. Applicant must submit three letters of recommendations, with two addressing applicant's musical qualifications.

 

AOSA Research Grant

Award: $800, Deadline: January 1

Applicant must be a AOSA member, and have research experience for the past five years.

 

Elizabeth Massey Award

Award: $2,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a woman who is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant enrolled for post-graduate studies in music, painting, or sculpture in Canada or abroad.

 

In-School Players Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must have performance experience in acting and/or music.

 

Robert and Rosemary Low Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 1

Selection is based upon academic merit, statement of goals, faculty recommendations, and physical disability. Financial need is considered but not required.

 

Junior and Community College Performing Arts Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: September 16

Applicant must attend a public junior or community college in Alabama on a full-time basis. Selection is based upon talent demonstrated through competitive auditions. Financial need is not considered.

 

Nickels for Notes Scholarship

Award: $800, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must attend a Massachusetts high school and submit a letter of endorsement from the president of the sponsoring GFWC of Massachusetts club in the community of legal residence, recommendation from music teacher or high school principal, and high school transcript. Audition and SASE required.

 

Dorchester Woman's Club Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must attend an accredited four-year college, university, or school of music, submit a letter of endorsement from the president of the sponsoring GFWC of Massachusetts club in the community of legal residence, a recommendation from college department head or music professor, a letter stating reasons for financial assistance, and transcript. Audition and SASE required.

 

Performing and Creative Arts Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must have a minimum 90 unweighted grade average and a minimum combined SAT I score of 1150 and must complete the audition process.

 

Talent Scholarship

Award: $9,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a full-time student and must audition or have a portfolio.

 

Nordan Fine Arts Program

Award: $8,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must demonstrate exceptional talent in art, ballet and modern dance, music, or theatre.

 

Music Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 10

Selection is based upon audition and interview. Band and choral scholarships are available to music and non-music majors.

 

Presidential Scholarship

Award: $8,000, Deadline: March 15

Selection is based upon academic merit and talent. Scholarship cannot be combined with other merit scholarships offered by the university.

 

Henry & Chiyo Kuwahara Creative Arts Award

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 1

Award is to encourage creative projects reflecting the Japanese-American experience and providing cultural representation. Applicant must be a member of JACL. Selection is based upon personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, work experience, and community involvement. Professional artists are not eligible.
