Active Life Scholarship for Financial Literacy

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 30

Applicants must be current college or graduate school students. Applicants must be committed to increasing their financial literacy skills and adopt positive habits for managing personal finances. Award can be used at any college to study any major as well as for books and living expenses.

 

Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowships for Recently Tenured Scholars

Award: $95,000, Deadline: September 28

Applicants must be recently tenured humanists and must be employed in tenured positions at U.S. degree-granting institutions during the fellowship. An application, a proposal, a bibliography, a publications list, three reference letters and one institutional statement are required. Previous supported research leaves does not affect eligibility.

 

Lori Rhett Memorial Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: September 30

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students must hold a significant campus leadership position and demonstrate significant leadership skills and abilities. Applicants must also be making significant contributions through on- or off-campus volunteering and must attend school in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington.

 

Maria Elena Salinas Scholarship Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicants must be high school seniors, undergraduates or first-year graduate students who plan to pursue careers in journalism in Spanish-language television or radio. The award includes an opportunity to intern with the news division of Univision or an affiliate. Applicants must write an essay in Spanish outlining their career goals and provide Spanish-language samples of their work.

 

AIB Scholarships

Applicants must be self-sponsored or not employed by a baking industry employer who will pay for the course.

 

Medger Evers Award

This award honors the slain civil rights leader. Nominator should be a member of NABCJ.

 

Frank G. Brewer Civil Air Patrol Memorial Aerospace Award

Award: -, Deadline: January 15

Four categories of this award are available each with different eligibility criteria. Category 1 requires applicants to have earned the Billy Mitchel Award. Category 2 requires applicants to have earned the Yeager Award. Category 3 requires applicants to have made noteworthy aerospace achievement over a continuous period of up to 10 years. Category 4 is for aerospace contributors who have performed a noteworthy aerospace achievement or made significant contributions to the aerospace field for over 20 years.

 

ACI Student Fellowship Program

Award: $15,000, Deadline: October 15

Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students nominated by a faculty member who is also a member of the ACI. Students must be studying engineering, construction management or another relevant field. Applicants may live anywhere in the world, but actual study must take place in the U.S. or Canada. Finalists for a fellowship must attend an ACI convention for an interview. In addition to the monetary award, the scholarship also includes conference fees, mentoring and a potential internship.

 

NACA Mid Atlantic Graduate Student Scholarship

Applicants must be enrolled in master's or doctorate degree programs in student personnel services or a related area. Applicants must be attending a graduate school in Washington, DC, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York or eastern Pennsylvania, be involved in campus activities and plan to pursue a career in campus activities.

 

Taylor/Blakeslee University Fellowships

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 19

Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are enrolled in U.S. graduate-level science writing programs.

 

AGBU Scholarship Program

Applicants should be international full-time students or high school seniors of Armenian descent who attend academic institutions and graduate programs. Applications, two recommendation letters, transcripts, college acceptance letters, financial award letters, resumes and photographs are required.

 

CCNMA Scholarships

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 2

Applicants must be Latino and either California residents or be attending California schools. While the student's degree does not have to be in journalism, they must demonstrate plans to pursue a career in journalism. An interview and autobiographical essay are required. Awards are based also on financial need, academic achievement and a civic responsibility.

 

Continuing Education Scholarships

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15; July 15

Applicants must be FACT members or their immediate families in the following categories: current high school seniors, students already in college, students who graduated from high school four or more years ago or students planning to attend a trade or technical school.

 

Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award

Award: $10,000, Deadline: December 15

Applicant must be a Golden Key member, be enrolled in a graduate program or an undergraduate who will be enrolled in a graduate program in the next academic year. Selection is based on future academic and career goals, as well as how the applicant plans to create change in the future. Applicants must display academic achievement, leadership, service and involvement with the local Golden Key chapter.

 

Joan Nelson Study Abroad Scholarships

Award: $5,000, Deadline: June 15 and December 15

Applicants must be undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate members who plan to be or are currently enrolled in a study abroad program. Selection is based on academic achievement and relevance of the study abroad program to the applicant's major. Students must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at time of application.

 

Golden Key Research Grants

Award: $1,500, Deadline: December 15

Applicants must be undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate student members currently enrolled in a degree program. Selection is based on academic achievement and the quality of the research.

 

E.J. Sierieja Memorial Fellowship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: November 15

Applicants must be full-time graduate students, majoring in transportation and active members. Students may not apply directly for this scholarship and must be nominated. The award is based on academic ability, character, leadership, potential service to the industrial engineering profession and financial need. Preference is given to students focusing on rail transportation.

 

John S.W. Fargher, Jr Scholarship

Applicants must be full-time graduate students with at least one full year left who are enrolled in a college in the United States with an accredited industrial engineering program. Candidates must also major in industrial engineering or engineering management and be active members who have demonstrated leadership in industrial engineering-related activities. Students may not apply directly for this scholarship and must be nominated.

 

California School Library Association Southern Region Teacher Librarian Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: September 23

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a school library media credential program or master's degree program. Candidates must be residents of the California School Library Association Southern Section region and must provide two letters of recommendation.

 

Future Teacher Scholarship

Applicants must be education majors focusing on learning to teach scholastic journalism at the secondary school level. Applicants may also be current secondary school journalism teachers looking to improve their teaching skills in relation to scholastic journalism.

 

National and District Scholarships

Applicants must be high school seniors, college students, post-graduate students or adult students of Greek descent.

 

NAHN Scholarship

Applicants must be members of the NAHN and be enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, graduate or practical/vocational nursing program.

 

St. Andrew's Society of Washington, DC Scholarship

Applicants must be of Scottish birth or descent and be able to cite their Scottish descent. U.S. citizens must be permanent residents of the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania or Virginia. Students must also demonstrate financial need and academic achievement. Attention will be given to work that enhances the "knowledge of Scottish history or culture."

 

Cherokee Nation Scholarship - Graduate

Applicants must be citizens of the Cherokee Nation. They must be graduate students who are attending a not-for-profit educational institution. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Cherokee Nation Directed Studies Scholarship

Applicants must be citizens of the Cherokee Nation and reside in the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional area. They must be enrolled full-time in a graduate or upper-level undergraduate degree program. They must agree to work for the Cherokee Nation for two years following graduation. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Montgomery GI Bill Tuition Assistance Top-Up

Applicants must be eligible for MGIB-Active Duty benefits, and they must have served on active duty in the United States military for at least two years.

 

NACA Northern Plains Regional Student Leadership Scholarship

Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students taking at least six credits per semester and be enrolled in or have previously earned a degree from a college or university in Wisconsin or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Applicants must also have demonstrated leadership and service to their campus community.

Applicants must be New Hampshire residents between the ages of 16 and 25, enrolled in college at least half-time at a New Hampshire public institution of higher learning and have a parent or parents who died while on active duty or from service-related disability.

Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve

Applicants must have a six-year commitment to the Selected Reserve signed after June 30, 1985. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. Applicants must have completed basic military training, meet the requirements to receive a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and may use the funds for degree programs, certificate or correspondence courses, cooperative training, independent study programs, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and vocational flight training programs.
