Herman Johnson Black Scholarship

Applicant must be an African-American and minimum 3.0 high school GPA or 2.5 college GPA. Applicant must be a resident of nine county metropolitan area.

 

Korean-American Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be Korean-American and be enrolled as a full time student. Selection is based upon financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community service.

Free Tuition for Veterans

Award: -, Deadline: None

Applicant must be taking undergraduate courses at a state university, have been discharged under Honorable conditions, be a current resident of South Dakota and qualify for in-state tuition; and meet one of the following criteria: served on active duty at any time between August 2, 1990 through a date to be determined by the South Dakota State Legislature; any military service during which they received an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, or other United States campaign or service medal for participation in combat operations against hostile forces outside the boundaries of the United States; has a service connected disability rated 10%, or more, disabling. Eligible veterans may receive one month of free tuition for each month of "qualifying service" with a minimum of one, up to a maximum of four, academic years. Qualifying service is defined as the amount of time served on active duty between the beginning and ending dates of the particular period of conflict or hostilities during which the veteran earned eligibility for this program. Since more of the post-Vietnam conflicts have been very short in duration, the majority of veterans who qualify will be entitled to only the minimum, one academic year, of free tuition.

Reduced Tuition Program for National Guard Members

Applicant must be a resident of South Dakota and a member of the South Dakota Army or Air Guard throughout each semester or vocational program for which they apply for benefits; have completed required active duty for training; attend 90% of drills and training periods and maintain a satisfactory grade level; and provide proper notice to the institution at time of registration for the term in which benefits are sought. Guard members, who meet the requirements for admission are eligible for a fifty percent reduction in undergraduate tuition charges at any state supported school for up to a maximum of four academic years; or, on program of study, approved by the State Board of Education, at any state vocational school upon payment of fifty percent of the tuition charges.

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Michigan resident, be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Michigan college, be a member of MSPE, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate intent to enter the engineering field after graduation. Preference is given to students at Lawrence Tech U majoring in manufacturing engineering.

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Michigan resident, be a member of MSPE, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate intent to enter the engineering field after graduation. Selection is based upon academic record, extracurricular activities, professor recommendations, and leadership and other personal traits. Preference is given to sanitary engineering majors.

 

MSPE Abrams Foundation Grant

Award: $3,000, Deadline: First week of April

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Michigan resident, be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Michigan college, be a member of MSPE, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate intent to enter the engineering field after graduation. Selection is based upon academic record, extracurricular activities, professor recommendations, and leadership and other personal traits.

 

MSPE Undesignated Grant

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Michigan resident, be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Michigan college, be a member of MSPE, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate intent to enter the engineering field after graduation. Applicant must be the top-ranking student in his or her engineering program. Selection is based upon academic record, extracurricular activities, professor recommendations, and leadership and other personal traits.

 

Norman S. and Betty M. Fitzhugh Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of Kanawha County. Minimum 2.5 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

Ruth Ann Johnson Scholarship

Applicant must be a West Virginia resident who demonstrates academic excellence, financial need, and good moral character and is attending an accredited college or university as a full-time student in any state.

 

W.P. Black Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a West Virginia resident who has a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrates academic excellence, financial need, good moral character, and who is enrolled in an undergraduate program.

 

R. Ray Singleton Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident in one of the following counties: Boone, Clay, Fayette, Kanawha, Lincoln, or Putnam. Applicant must be attending a college or university in West Virginia. Minimum 2.5 GPA and composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

Madeline B. McCrum Scholarship
