The MTS Student Scholarship for Two-Year, Technical, Engineering and Community College Students

Applicant must be a Marine Technology Society member who is enrolled in a two year, technical, engineering or community college pursuing a degree in a marine-related field. Essay, one recommendation letter, one reference letter, and official sealed transcript required.

 

The MTS Student Scholarship for Graduating High School Seniors

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Marine Technology Society member and high school senior who has been accepted into a full-time undergraduate program. Essay, one recommendation letter, one reference letter, and official sealed transcript required.

 

John C. Bajus Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Marine Technology Society member who is a full-time undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in a marine-related field who has shown commitment to community service or volunteer work. Essay, one recommendation letter, one reference letter, and official sealed transcript required.

 

The Paros-Digiquartz Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Marine Technology Society member who is a full-time undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in marine instrumentation. Essay, one recommendation letter, one reference letter, and official sealed transcript required.

 

ROV Scholarship

Award: $8,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Marine Technology Society student member who is interested in remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) or underwater work. Essay, one recommendation letter, one reference letter, and official sealed transcript required.

 

Dieter Family Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Marine Technology Society member who is an undergraduate or graduate student. Statement of interest, biographical sketch, and statement of financial need required. Recipient will receive up to $500 for travel-related expenses to a MTS/IEEE Oceans Conference.

 

Aquatic & Marine Studies Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: September 30

Applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a Marine or Aquatic field of study. Minimum 2.8 GPA, transcript, and essay required.

 

Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship

Award: $42,000, Deadline: n/a

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in oceanography, maritime archaeology, marine biology, or related areas at an accredited institution. Evaluation based on academic record, research proposal, recommendations, experience, and financial need.

 

USA to Australia Fellowship

Award: $40,000, Deadline: October 15

Applicant must be a graduate student or above who will be attending an Australian educational institution majoring in engineering, medicine, sustainability, or technology. Three essays, three letters of reference, a proposed budget, transcripts, and letter of acceptance to an Australian University required. Must be a U.S. citizen and full-time student.

 

NOAA Educational Partnership Program Undergraduate Scholarships

Award: -, Deadline: January 31

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and full-time undergraduates who are in the second year of a four-year degree program or in the third year of a five-year degree program. They must be attending an accredited minority serving institution (MSI), and they must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher on a four-point scale. Applicants must be majoring in a discipline that is related to environmental, atmospheric or oceanic sciences. Selection is based on relevant coursework completed, stated career goals, recommendations and extracurricular activities.

 

Zale Parry Scholarship

Award: $6,000, Deadline: August 31

Applicants must be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate level studies and must be a certified diver. Selection is based on merit.

 

Jeffrey and Regina Taussig Ohio Honors Scholarship

Award: $125,000, Deadline: January 11

Applicants must be freshmen with a high school cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and reside in Ohio. Students must have participated in considerable co-curricular activities. Applicants must major in one of the following areas: biochemistry, biology, biology education, chemistry, chemistry education, computer science, engineering, environmental science, forensic chemistry or science, marine biology, mathematics, math education, pre-dental, pre-medical or pre-veterinary.
