SDE Fellowship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a woman who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

 

Green Mountain Water Environment Association Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who will pursue a degree in a field related to environmental studies at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need, community involvement/service and minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Internship

Award: $1,750, Deadline: None

Applicant must have good communication skills and demonstrate a sense of responsibility. Resume, letter of interest, and three references for contact information required to be submitted.

 

The SAPA Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be a high school senior who is planning to attend a full-time undergraduate program at an accredited four-year college/university with a major related to life sciences. Applicant must have a minimum 3.3 GPA, a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 2000, and be in the top tenth (or top quarter) of their class. Essay, two letters of recommendation, list of all awards received, list of Advanced Placement or Honors courses with grades, and transcripts are required to be submitted.

 

Wildlife Research Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum GRE score of 1100 and 3.0 GPA in the last two years of undergraduate or graduate work.

 

Vermont Lakes and Ponds Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who will pursue a degree in environmental studies at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Academic achievement, financial need and community service/involvement must be demonstrated.

 

Gilbert F. White Postdoctoral Fellowship

Applicant must have a doctorate degree. Teaching and/or research experience at the postdoctoral level is preferred.

 

Joseph L. Fisher Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship

Applicant must be a graduate student in their final year of dissertation research. Applicant must have completed the preliminary examinations for their doctorate prior to the application deadline.

 

Switzer Environmental Fellowship

Award: $13,000, Deadline: Late January; Mid-December (nomination deadline)

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, be enrolled in an accredited graduate institution in California, have completed at least one semester of environmental science at the graduate level, be nominated by a professor or environmental professional, and have superior academic qualifications.

 

Vessa Notchev Fellowship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a woman and an SDE/GWIS member, who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

 

Summer Naturalist Internship

Applicant must have an educational background in the natural sciences, environmental education, or related field, who is interested and enthusiastic about environmental education. First Aid and CPR certification required.

 

Horton Hydrology Research Grant

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduate student studying hydrology, water resources, or a closely-related field.

 

UPS Diversity Scholarship

Award: $5,250, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student who is of a minority ethnic or racial group pursuing an undergraduate degree in occupational safety/health or a closely related field.

 

Midwest Student Exchange Program

Applicant must be a resident of Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, or North Dakota. Minimum 3.4 GPA and combined SAT Reasoning score of 1090 (composite ACT score of 25) required. Applicant must be majoring in one of the majors listed on sponsor's application page.

 

Theodore Gordon Flyfishers, Inc. Founders Fund Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a student enrolled, and who will continue to be enrolled during the award year in a full-time four-year undergraduate degree or graduate degree program at a member institution. Applicant must be majoring in an area of environmental studies such as but not limited to ecology, hydrology, conservation biology, natural resource management, zoology or environmental law and policy.

 

Environmental Studies Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident who has a minimum 2.5 GPA and is currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university. Applicant must be enrolled in a degree program that will lead to an environmental career.

 

The Henry Hamilton Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a graduating or currently enrolled student from the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle who will major in a field of engineering and/or environmental science and exhibits community service, leadership and financial need. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA required.

 

Glenna Teeters Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon who will major in science at a public or nonprofit college or university. FAFSA required.

 

Graduate Student Award Program

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be enrolled at least half time in an education, environmental, health-related, social work, or public service area at a four-year public or nonprofit college or university in Oregon. FAFSA required.

 

Douglas County Waste Management Environmental Studies College Scholarship

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a graduating senior of a Douglas County high school who plans to major in environmental sciences or environmental engineering.

 

ERC Eco Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a high school senior who is interested in environmental health sciences and the pursuit of a higher education.

 

Luszczak Family Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior who will pursue a degree in business management, culinary arts or nature conservancy at a two- or four-year college, technical or trade school. Financial need and minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

Ryan Walton Memorial Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Johnson County, AR high school who will major in animal science or environmental studies.

 

Blue Communities Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a full-time entering student, current student, or graduate student majoring in environmental studies. Minimum 3.0 GPA and 500- to 1,000-word essay on a topic related to sustainability in arid urban environments required.

 

KLL Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: January 10

Applicant must be a United States citizen who is attending a two- or four-year college or university with an interest in education, arts, environment, math, or science. Applicant must have lost the life of at least one parent to cancer before the age of 22. Financial need and involvement in the community, church, school, or other non-curricular activity are required.

 

David Matthew Jeter Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled full-time at Evergreen State College majoring in environmental studies. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

John & Andrea Adams Scholarship

Award: $1,200, Deadline: February 3

Applicant must be a single parent enrolled at Evergreen State College with interest in working in the environmental field. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Lee Hoemann Scholarship

Award: $1,329, Deadline: February 3

Applicant must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior at Evergreen State College majoring in environmental studies who meets one of the following criteria: first generation student, Native American, Hispanic/Latino, African American, a parent, age 24-26, high level of student loan indebtedness. Financial need must be demonstrated.
