Arthur C. Hills Music Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a full-time student at Grand Valley State University majoring in music. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Marguerite Nagle Berry

Award: $3,500, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must be majoring in music. Financial need is required.

 

Music Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: August 1

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student who is majoring in music or music education. Written recommendation required from the applicant's high school music teacher or private music instructor. Minimum 1.8 GPA ('C' average) required.

 

Joan and Thomas Phillippe Young Artist Award

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 20 (date auditions must be completed)

Applicant must be accepted into the university's music department. Audition required.

 

Music, Art, Theatre Arts Performance Scholarships

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be majoring in a field of music, art, or theatre arts and continue with that major for which the scholarship is awarded. Audition (music, theatre) or portfolio review (art) required.

 

Jay Franke Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a high school senior with Type 1 diabetes who is seeking higher education at an accredited four-year college, university, technical, or trade school and intends to pursue an arts degree (music, theatre, dance).

 

Friends of Music Senior Award

Award: $500, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be an undergraduate senior who demonstrates the highest standards of artistic achievement and participation in the life of the Music and Dance/Humanities and Fine Arts Department.

 

Soon Young Rhee Park Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be Korean-American and be enrolled as a full time student studying fine arts, literature, or music. Selection is based upon financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community service.

 

Byung Keun & Pyoung Ran Choi Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be Korean-American and be enrolled as a full time student studying art or music or participating in athletics. Selection is based upon financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community service.

 

Music Talent Awards

Fisk Performance Award for Music Majors

The Miriam Hoffman Scholarship

Applicant must an undergraduate or graduate student who is pursuing a vocational career in music education or music ministry. Must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required.

 

Modern Abstract Decor Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a graduating senior or current college student pursuing a degree in an arts program in the United States. Business plan between 500-1000 words required.

 

Berklee Writing and Composition Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15; July 1; December 1

Applicant must be attending Berklee College of Music for the first time with an interest in music-writing. Required to submit three original compositions and written scores.

 

Slaight Family Scholarship

Applicant must be a Canadian musician entering Berklee College of Music for the fall semester. Financial need must be demonstrated. Live audition and interview required.

 

Berklee Lollapalooza Endowed Scholarship

Vans Off The Wall Scholarship

Applicant must be an outstanding musician from the U.S. who is an academically high achieving scholar. Financial need must be demonstrated. Audition, interview, and copy of transcripts required. Preference given to a rock, alternative, or indie/creative artist.

 

Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award

Award: $10,000, Deadline: October 1; December 1; February 1

Applicant must be a classical instrumentalist, vocalist, and/or composer who is 18 years old or younger and have not yet entered college who have an interest in performing on From the Top. Exceptional musical achievement, financial need, academic achievement, and strength of character must be demonstrated.

 

Jazz Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a graduating Pinellas County Public High School student who has participated in jazz during their senior year and wishes to further their studies in jazz. Recorded audition, band director's recommendation, and a 100 word essay on the following topic required: "What Jazz means in my life".

 

Orange County Centennial Arts Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 16

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is a resident of Orange County, California and plans to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university majoring in the arts. Leadership skills and community service involvement must be demonstrated. Essay, current transcript, and two letters of recommendation required.

 

Robert C. and Lillian DuSoe Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 16

Applicant must be a graduating senior of the Laguna Beach Unified School District or Santa Ana Unified School District who plans to attend an accredited college/university majoring in writing or music. Financial need must be demonstrated. Essay required.

 

Performing Arts Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate exceptional ability in the area of instrumental or vocal music and must be able to read music. Live audition and experience in choir, orchestral, band, or chamber music settings required.

 

Dennis Coleman Scholarship

Award: $3,250, Deadline: January 13

Applicants must be residents of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington and be high school seniors or college or graduate students (community college, four-year public or private college or university, certificate program, vocational/technical/trade programs, law school, medical/dental/veterinary school or graduate education). Students must be members of the LGBTQ and allied community and display leadership either within the LGBTQ community or within their field of study and demonstrate financial need. Students with additional barriers to education as well as those who are economically, racially, socially, geographically or politically disenfranchised will be given consideration as well. Scholarship is for students studying choral conducting or music with preference given to those committed to creating social change through music.
