Opera/Classical Music Grant

Award: $7,200, Deadline: February 1

Auditions will be required to judge the talent of each prospective opera singer and classical musician. Applicant must include self-addressed envelope to receive a reply. Only for exceptional talented opera singers and classical musicians that are ready for their professional debuts.

Gifted Opera Singers' Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: January

Applicant must be an unusually gifted opera singer with potential for a career in opera and with at least two years or equivalent of college music and opera-oriented training. Male applicants must be age 30 or under; female applicants must be age 28 or under. Preference is given to applicants with a college degree.

Altamura-Enrico Caruso Voice Competition, USA

Award: $10,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a young professional majoring in operatic studies, currently performing in opera, and wishing to advance to the next level.

Talent Award

Award: $12,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must audition or submit a portfolio for review.

Elizabeth Massey Award

Award: $2,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a woman who is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant enrolled for post-graduate studies in music, painting, or sculpture in Canada or abroad.

Benton-Schmidt Vocal Scholarship

Award: $15,000, Deadline: January 1

Audition required. Undergraduate applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Graduate applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Dorchester Woman's Club Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must attend an accredited four-year college, university, or school of music, submit a letter of endorsement from the president of the sponsoring GFWC of Massachusetts club in the community of legal residence, a recommendation from college department head or music professor, a letter stating reasons for financial assistance, and transcript. Audition and SASE required.

Choral Scholarship

Henry & Chiyo Kuwahara Creative Arts Award

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 1

Award is to encourage creative projects reflecting the Japanese-American experience and providing cultural representation. Applicant must be a member of JACL. Selection is based upon personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, work experience, and community involvement. Professional artists are not eligible.

Graduate Fellowship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a student who has been an active or lifetime member of ACDA for at least three years. Applications must include a current resume, reasons for applying for financial assistance, the date applicant became a member, two letters of recommendation from major professors, a description of the graduate degree program in which the applicant is enrolled, and a current personal finance statement showing the need for ACDA's financial assistance.

Career Performance Grant

Jackie Cochran Borello Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Sara Tucker Study Grant

Award: $5,000, Deadline: July 1

Applicant must be age 27 or younger and should be making the transition from student to professional singer. Applicant should have recently completed a graduate degree program, or recently completed/soon to complete work in a Young Artist or Apprentice program at a regional company.

Richard Tucker Career Grant

Award: $7,500, Deadline: July 1

Applicant must be age 36 or younger, and have a fair amount of performing experience in professional companies.

G. and S. Tedder Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be an outstanding student in choral music or voice.

Bruce and Frances Crowell Choral Conducting Scholarship

Award: $250, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be active in the choral program and maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and complete at least 12 credits per semester.

Ralph Brewster Vocal Scholarship

Award: $1,800, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must intend to make music a central part of life and submit an audiocassette and $25 refundable appearance fee. Applicant should send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with request for competition announcement. Live audition required.

Jack Pullan Memorial Vocal Scholarship

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

David J. Dick Memorial Award

Applicant must be an outstanding junior or senior of conducting or vocal performance.

Bernice Barnard Music Education Scholarship

Applicant must be from the city of San Buenaventura or Ojai and have attended a Ventura or Ojai area high school or college. Interest and involvement in music in recommendation letters and essay must be shown.

Dean's Music Scholarship

Applicant must have significant promise in instrumental or vocal music. Auditions are required for eligibility.

Julia Guess Music Scholarship

Applicant must be a piano or voice major returning to the college for their sophomore year. Financial need, academic achievement, and a desire to succeed are considered.

Farrold Stephens Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolling as a college junior or above in a vocal performance or music education program. FAFSA required.

James A. Hyter Vocal Music Scholarship Fund
