Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 2

Applicant must be a high school senior or eligible for graduation and be of Hispanic or Latino heritage including the Philippines, Portugal and Brazil. Applicant must be willing to travel at one's own expense to attend the regional award ceremony.

 

St. Andrew's Society Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be able to cite their Scottish descent, have a meritorious academic record, and be able to demonstrate financial need. Applicant must be enrolled in an United States or Scottish institution for the third or fourth year of College or University or full-time graduate study. British applicants must have been born in Scotland, American citizens must maintain permanent residence in the Mid-Atlantic Region (defined as Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Virginia). Special consideration to those whose work contributes toward enhancing knowledge of Scottish history or culture.

 

St. Andrew's Society Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a U.S. resident, who is of Scottish descent planning study abroad in Scotland and is maintaining permanent residence in the Mid-Atlantic region (defined as Washington D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or West Virginia). Applicant must be able to cite his or her Scottish descent and submit a statement of plans and goals. Applicant must have a meritorious academic record and demonstrate financial need. Special attention is given to study that will demonstrably contribute to enhanced knowledge of Scottish history or culture.

 

Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate of a Washington, D.C. public high school, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, nominated by a high school counselor; interviews for semi-finalists.

 

Baird Society Resident Scholar

Award: -, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be in residence at the Smithsonian during the award period. The focus of the applicant's project must center around Special Collections, which are located in Washington, D.C., and New York City.

 

Honors College National Scholarship

Award: $15,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must have out-of-state residency status and be eligible for admission to the Honors College.

 

Honors College Tuition Grant

Award: -, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must have out-of-state residency status and be a member of the Honors College receiving a Professional Assistantship.

 

Merit Recognition Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must have out-of-state residency status who is a National Merit Scholar and has listed Michigan State University as a first choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

 

The Princeton Prize

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a high school student who has been actively involved in volunteer work that has had a significant impact on race relations. Two applications required; one from applicant, one from applicant's supporter.

 

Continuing Education Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: October

Applicant must be a high school graduate who resides in Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Must be at least 25 years old and enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
