Baltimore Scholars

Award: -, Deadline: January 1; November 15 (early decision)

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident who has lived with a custodial parent in Baltimore City for the last three years and has been enrolled in a public high school in the city for 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. Required documents for need-based financial aid must be filed in order to apply.

 

Northrop Grumman Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must be a female full-time student at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Engineering. Focus on one of the following disciplines is required: civil and materials, electrical and computer, computer science, or mechanical engineering. Applicant must show evidence of above average academic performance (minimum GPA 3.0/4.0). Women of color (African American, Latina, Native American) are encouraged to apply. Application coversheet, biographical statement, current resume or CV (list your education and employment history), UIC transcript, proof of financial aid eligibility, proof of U.S. citizenship (copy of birth certificate or passport), and two letters of recommendation (include at least one from a UIC instructor) required.

 

Marion I. and Henry J. Knott Scholarship Program

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 1 (Priority)

Applicant must be an outstanding Catholic high school student who attends a school within the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

 

Irving and Lois Blum Foundation Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 1 (Priority)

Applicant must be an outstanding student

 

Arthur W. Elder II Scholarship

Award: $1,250, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Baltimore City, MD high school who will enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college or university. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Irvin Ricardo Horne Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a graduating senior male from a Baltimore City, MD high school who will enroll full-time at the University of Maryland at College Park. Financial need and minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

Harry Z. Isaacs Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Baltimore City, MD public high school.

 

Legg Mason's Community College Scholarship

Award: $12,500, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Baltimore City public high school who will enroll in a community college in Maryland. Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

One Step Up College Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a graduating senior female from a Baltimore City public high school who will attend an accredited four-year college or university full-time. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

Retired Public School Employees Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Baltimore City high school who will pursue an education major at a two- of four-year college or university. Financial need and minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA required.

 

The Princeton Prize

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a high school student who has been actively involved in volunteer work that has had a significant impact on race relations. Two applications required; one from applicant, one from applicant's supporter.
