Scholarships in Theatre Arts

Dean's Theatre Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must have talent and passion for dramatic performance and production. Audition and/or interview are required for eligibility.

 

Olga V. Alexandria (Logan) Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: March 14

Applicant must be a female student majoring in ballet, theatre, business, law, or medicine and who has financial need.

 

Fine Arts Scholarships

Award: $15,000, Deadline: February 1 (December 1 for early action/decision)

Selection is based upon high school record: GPA, difficulty of courses, class rank, and SAT or ACT scores. Audition or portfolio presentations for those applying to the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre are required. Talent may influence the award amount.

 

Theatre Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be pursuing a major in theatre. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of artistic talent in various aspects of theatre arts. An interview is required.

 

Theatre Arts Department Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: None

Applicant must be a full-time student who is enrolled in a minimum of seven hours of theater arts classes and who has a minimum 2.5 GPA. Financial need is required.

 

Fine Arts Entrance Scholarship

Award: $650, Deadline: March 17

Applicant must be entering the Faculty of Fine Arts with a minimum 75% average. Selection is based on academic achievement and artistic talent.

 

Midwest Student Exchange Program

Award: -, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a resident of Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, or North Dakota. Minimum 3.4 GPA and combined SAT Reasoning score of 1090 (composite ACT score of 25) required. Applicant must be majoring in one of the majors listed on sponsor's application page.

 

T. Scott Eaton Scholarship Fund

Award: $500, Deadline: February 6

Applicant must be a resident of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, or Pulaski Counties, or from the City of Radford. Applicant must be pursuing a post-secondary degree in theatre or fine arts. Minimum 2.0 GPA required.

 

Music, Art, Theatre Arts Performance Scholarships

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be majoring in a field of music, art, or theatre arts and continue with that major for which the scholarship is awarded. Audition (music, theatre) or portfolio review (art) required.

 

Delray Beach Playhouse Ernest G. Simon Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must reside near the Delray Beach Playhouse and be majoring in theater.

 

Theatre Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: n/a

Applicant must be a full-time freshman who is pursuing a major in theatre. Audition required.

 

Orange County Centennial Arts Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 16

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is a resident of Orange County, California and plans to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university majoring in the arts. Leadership skills and community service involvement must be demonstrated. Essay, current transcript, and two letters of recommendation required.

 

Patricia Van Kirk Scholarship

Award: $3,250, Deadline: January 13

Applicants must be?residents of?Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington and be high school seniors or college or graduate students (community college, four-year public or private college or university, certificate program, vocational/technical/trade programs, law school, medical/dental/veterinary school or graduate education). Students must be members of the?LGBTQ and allied community and display leadership either within the LGBTQ community or within their field of study and demonstrate financial need. Students with additional barriers to education as well as those who are?economically, racially, socially, geographically or politically disenfranchised will be given consideration as well. Students should be studying theater or visual arts and have a commitment to social justice.

 

BSC Theatre & Musical Theatre Scholarship

Applicants must be enrolling at Birmingham-Southern College. Students must audition in either musical theatre or theatre and complete an interview with a faculty member. Applicants interested in technical theatre and design must bring a portfolio of their work.
