MAES Scholarships

Applicant must be a member of MAES.

 

Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association

Award: $2,800, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be the child or grandchild of a Seabee who will enroll or is currently enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year degree program. Financial need, scholastic record, leadership, good citizenship, and character must be demonstrated. Award is not available for part-time students, graduate students, or great grandchildren of Seabees.

 

AUCC Scholarship Program For Students With Disabilities

Award: $5,000, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must be a disabled Canadian citizen or a permanent resident for at least two years who is enrolled full-time at a Canadian degree-granting institution or a community college where he or she is following a degree program under the college-university transfer system.

 

Christian Ministry Dependent Grant

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 2

Applicant must be a full-time student who is the child of a full-time Christian worker who is the primary support for the family and whose ministries are consistent with the mission of The Master's Coll. Eligible workers include Christian school administrators and teachers, pastors, associate pastors, youth pastors, missionaries, and evangelists. Freshman applicant must have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Financial need is considered.

Leslie H. Cochran University Scholars Award

Award: $14,100, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a minimum composite ACT score of 30 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 1340) and either recognition as a National Merit or National Achievement Finalist or rank in top 15% of class with college-preparatory curriculum. For special consideration, applicant must have a minimum composite ACT score of 28 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 1260) and either recognition as a National Merit or National Achievement Semifinalist or rank in top 15% of class with college-preparatory curriculum and a recommendation by the University Scholars Committee.

 

Department of Children & Family Services Scholarship

Applicant must be a current or former ward of the state of Illinois between ages 16 and 21, who was placed in an adoption or guardianship arrangement.

 

Special Education Services Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be an Indiana resident with a minimum 2.0 GPA who agrees to teach in Indiana upon certification. Award may be used at Indiana schools only.

 

Emerging Leader Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 1

Awarded to students who will be members or already are members of the Corps of Cadets. Applicant must submit FAFSA. Award is to be used for room and board.

 

Named and Alumni Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a returning student and submit application and essay.

 

National Vocal Competition for Young Opera Singers

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January (New York auditions); March (Los Angeles auditions)

Applicant must be a female between the ages of 21-33 or a male between the ages of 21-35, who is trained in opera singing and is looking to further their career in the opera. Applicant must be a resident of the U.S. or Canada.

 

NAHJ General Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 30

Applicant must submit a sample of best work, resume, recommendations, essay, transcript, financial need statement, parents' W-2 forms, and application. Selection is based upon academic excellence, demonstrated interest in a journalism career, and financial need. For application, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with request.

 

Music Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 2

Selection is based upon merit and performance.

 

Filene Music Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15

Selection is based upon performance competition. Audition tape required as part of scholarship application.

 

Tennessee Teaching Scholars

Award: $4,500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Tennessee resident and United States citizen who is a college junior, senior, and post-baccalaureate student admitted to a teacher education program at an eligible Tennessee post-secondary institution. Undergraduate applicants must be enrolled full-time; graduate students at least half-time. Applicant may not be a licensed teacher or have received the scholarship while employed in a teaching position.

 

Minority Teaching Fellows

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a Tennessee resident and United States citizen who is a minority student enrolled full-time at an eligible Tennessee post-secondary institution. Applicant must be an entering freshman with a 2.75 high school GPA with at least an 18 ACT/860 SAT on a national test date. Continuing college students with a 2.5 cumulative GPA may also apply.

 

Overseas Press Club Foundation

Award: $3,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must aspire to be a foreign correspondent at some point in their career. Foundation also funds reporting fellowships at foreign bureaus of major news organizations and English-language foreign newspapers.

 

BIA Higher Education Grant

Award: $2,500, Deadline: July 1 (fall); December 1 (spring); April 1 (summer)

Applicant must be an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or minimum composite GED score of 45%. Financial need is considered.

 

Bowman Travel Grant

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 1 (summer/fall); October 26 (spring)

Applicant must be participating in a program of study administered by the council, a council member institution, or a university appointed as an official ISIC issuing office.

 

Bill and Lynn Stamm Kovach Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1 (priority)

Entering freshman applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and a minimum composite ACT score of 24. Undergraduate applicant must demonstrate potential for academic success and financial need.

 

New Jersey State Golf Association (NJSGA) Caddie Scholarship

Award: $5,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have caddied for at least two seasons. Scholastic achievement, CEEB SAT Scores, qualities of character and leadership, length of service as a caddie, and financial need are the selection criteria. Attendance full-time at an accredited college or university is required.

 

Fellowship for Full-Time Studies in French

Award: $1,000, Deadline: November 15

Applicants must be Alberta residents, Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants, and plan to register full-time in a post-secondary program of at least one semester in length. Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of three courses per semester which have French as the language of instruction.

 

Dolphin Scholarship

Award: $3,400, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be an unmarried child/step-child under the age of 24 of a member or former member of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force who qualified in submarines and served in the submarine force for at least eight years or served in submarine support activities for a minimum of 10 years.

 

Young Jazz Composer Awards

Award: $2,500, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a young jazz composer who is able to submit the completed application form; the notated score of one composition; biographical information listing prior music studies, background and experience. Applicant must also submit a CD or cassette of the composition.

 

Spouses Heineken USA Performing Arts Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: May 3

Applicant must be pursuing a career in the performing arts.

 

Presidential Award

Award: $25,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must demonstrate unusual academic potential.

 

USBC Gift for Life

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1
