Applicant must be currently enrolled as a sophomore at a participating four-year institution or one of Iowa's community colleges. Applicant must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and be a graduate of an Iowa high school or resident of Iowa for five consecutive years prior to application who has overcome some personal obstacle to have come this far in a college career (physical, financial, emotional, etc.). Financial need is required.

Past CEW Scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Applicant must be an American, 18 years of age or older, with a plan of studies to focus on exploring his/her interest in Norwegian heritage or in modern Norway at an institution of higher learning. Applicant may also be a Norwegian, 18 years of age or older, who desires to further their studies in North American culture at an institution of higher learning. Selection is based upon academic potential, financial need, statement of educational and career goals, benefit to Sons of Norway and wider Norwegian/American community, involvement in school and community activities, and work experiences. Essay, three letters of recommendation, and official copy of latest high school or college grade transcript are required.

Applicant must be a United States citizen who is enrolled full-time at the senior level during the next school year in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO. Applicant must have an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction, and operation of dams. Minimum 2.5 GPA for the first three years of college and recommendation from academic advisor required. Selection based upon academic achievement, financial need, work experience/activities, and essay.
