College Scholarship Competition

Art, Music, and Theatre Award

Award: -, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA for the music or theatre awards; minimum 2.5 GPA for the art award. Nomination by selected department is required.

 

Princess Grace Awards in Theater, Dance, and Film

Award: $25,000, Deadline: March 31 (theater); April 30 (dance); June 1 (film)

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident. Applications, essays, letters of recommendation, resume, and work samples are required to be submitted.

 

Drama Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 2

Selection based upon merit and performance.

 

Vermont Alliance for Arts Education (VAAE) Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Vermont who will pursue a degree in the arts at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need, academic achievement and significant skill and talent in an artistic medium must be demonstrated.

 

Theatre Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: February 15 (priority)

Selection is based upon talent and participation in theatre. Freshmen must meet two of the following requirements: minimum 2.0 GPA, rank in top half of class, minimum composite ACT score of 20. Upperclassmen and transfer applicants must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Participation is required in certain theatre events. Audition, speech communication, and theatre classes are required.

 

TELACU Arts Award

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 6

Applicant must come from a low-income household, be a first-generation college student, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a permanent resident of unincorporated East Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Huntington Park, Montebello, Monterey Park, or South Gate.

 

Theater Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 13

Applicant must be an incoming freshmen or transfer students with exceptional dramatic ability.

 

Theatre and Dance Activity Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must have outstanding ability in acting, performance studies, technical theatre, dance, and related activities. New students must present a performance audition or technical interview; videotape may be substituted for on-site audition.

 

Creative Arts Award

Award: $1,800, Deadline: October 31

Selection is based upon academic and artistic performance.

 

Dean's Special Talent Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 15

Selection is based upon talent and academic qualifications.

 

Talent Scholarship

Award: $1,200, Deadline: March 1

Audition is required.

 

Junior and Community College Performing Arts Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: September 16

Applicant must attend a public junior or community college in Alabama on a full-time basis. Selection is based upon talent demonstrated through competitive auditions. Financial need is not considered.

 

Performing and Creative Arts Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must have a minimum 90 unweighted grade average and a minimum combined SAT I score of 1150 and must complete the audition process.

 

Fine Arts Fellowship

Award: $12,500, Deadline: January 12

Applicant must demonstrate outstanding achievement in art, music, or theatre.

 

Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must participate in Fine Arts Scholarship Day on campus and audition or submit portfolio.

 

Theatre Scholarship

Award: $7,000, Deadline: January 10

Selection is based upon application, recommendations, and audition/interview.

 

Distinguished Artist Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a strong academic record and demonstrate talent in either visual arts, dance, music, theatre, or creative writing.

 

Performance Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 1

Selection is based upon talent and potential in art, broadcasting, forensics, music, or theatre.

 

Presidential Scholarship

Award: $8,000, Deadline: March 15

Selection is based upon academic merit and talent. Scholarship cannot be combined with other merit scholarships offered by the university.

 

Robert H. and Cynthia B. Cutter Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be enrolled full time, have a minimum 2.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and be active in the theatre program.

 

Marion Fletcher Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled full time and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

 

Esther Herr Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a full-time student with a minimum 2.75 GPA.

 

Madge Huffer Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled full time, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and participate in speech or theatre activities.

 

Henry & Chiyo Kuwahara Creative Arts Award

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 1

Award is to encourage creative projects reflecting the Japanese-American experience and providing cultural representation. Applicant must be a member of JACL. Selection is based upon personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, work experience, and community involvement. Professional artists are not eligible.

 

Diane Lucy Ouckama Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be majoring or minoring in music and/or theatre. Applicant must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate through performance, both on campus and off, a high level of achievement and potential in music theater.

 

Grand Rapids Combined Theatre Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must demonstrate ability, talent, and dedication to the theatre arts, be pursuing an education in theatre arts, and have worked in the Grand Rapids, Mich.. area community theatre. Preference is given to theatre arts majors. Selection is based upon academic achievement, extracurricular activities, personal statement, and financial need.

Gormley Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a Colorado resident from west of the Continental Divide. Financial need considered.

 

Guyton Music Theatre Scholarship

Award: $600, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have participated in a minimum of two theatrical productions.
