The Bird Dog Foundation's College Scholarship Essay Contest/The Michael Tuxon Scholarship Award

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is a high school senior residing in Tennessee, Mississippi, or Arkansas. Essay required.

 

Out of State Grant

Award: $2,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be a full-time student and one of the following: a United States citizen who is a non-Florida resident living in the United States or a United States territory or an eligible non-citizen (permanent resident).

 

Mississippi Teacher Loan Repayment

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a Mississippi school teacher holding a valid alternate route educator's license, who is currently teaching full-time in a critical shortage geographical area or subject.

 

SREB Doctoral Scholars Program

Award: $25,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a Mississippi resident seeking a doctoral degree in a STEM or related field. Participant may fulfill the service obligation by teaching full-time at the collegiate level for one year for each year of money received.

 

Nursing Education Loan/Scholarship - M.S.N. or Ph.D

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a student seeking a masters or doctorate degree in nursing at a Mississippi college or university. Applicant may fulfill the service obligation by working as a professional nurse educator in Mississippi for one year for each year of money received.

 

Nursing Education Teacher Stipend

Applicant must be a Mississippi resident who is a licensed registered nurse, seeking a masters or doctoral degree at a Mississippi college or university. Participant must agree to teach in an accredited Mississippi school of nursing and have received the Nursing Education Loan/Scholarship for Masters or Doctorates.

 

State Dental/Medical Education Loan/Scholarship

Applicant must be a medical or dental student who can agree to work in family medicine or general dentistry in Mississippi for one year for each year of the money received. Service must be performed in an approved critical shortage location.

 

SREB Regional Contract Program

Applicant must be a Mississippi student who is seeking an optometry degree at an approved out-of-state school. Participant may fulfill the service obligation by working as an optometrist in Mississippi for one year for year year of money received.

 

Graduate and Professional Degree Loan/Scholarship

Applicant must be a Mississippi resident who is pursing a graduate or professional degree in chiropractic medicine, orthotics/prosthetics, or podiatric medicine at an approved out-of-state institution. Participant may fulfill the service obligation by working in the appropriate field in Mississippi for one year for each year of money received.

 

Veterinary Medicine Minority Loan/Scholarship

Applicant must be a minority student who is seeking a veterinary medicine degree. Participant must fulfill the loan-to-scholarship service obligation by working for one year for each year of the money received.

 

Summer Development Grant Program

Award: $3,000, Deadline: July 31

Award looks to assist students who do not meet the criteria for admission to one of the state's public universities. Award will assist with financial need pay for the Summer Development Program during the summer preceding the freshman year of college.

Applicant must be a Mississippi student with financial need who is attending a Mississippi public college or university. Minimum 2.0 GPA, minimum composite ACT score of 20, and demonstrated leadership ability are required.

 

Higher Education Legislative Plan for Needy Students (HELP)

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student with demonstrated financial need who is pursuing a first certificate, associate, or bachelor's degree. Applicant must first receive HELP as a freshman or sophomore. Minimum 2.5 GPA, minimum composite ACT score of 20, and completion of specific high school core curriculum required.

 

Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant

Applicant must be a Mississippi resident pursuing their first certificate, associate, or bachelor's degree at an approved Mississippi college or university.

Health Care Professions Loan/Scholarship

Applicant must be a student pursuing their first bachelor's degree in speech pathology or psychology or a first master's degree in occupational or physical therapy. Recipient may fulfill the service obligation by working in a Mississippi state health institution.

Applicant must be a licensed registered nurse who is seeking a bachelor's degree in nursing at a Mississippi college or university. Recipient may fulfill the loan-to-scholarship service obligation by working as a professional nurse in Mississippi.

 

NACA Southeast Student Leadership Scholarships

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a college or university within the former NACA Southeast region (AL, FL, GA, MS, NC, SC, TN, VA and PR) and have made significant contributions to the community or campus.

 

Community Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a college student living in the Memphis metropolitan area who is involved in the community through volunteer activities with a nonprofit or community group.

 

APWA Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior at a public university in Mississippi who is studying to enter the field of public works.

 

John Robert Boswell Memorial Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a senior who is majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Mississippi. Applicant cannot belong to a social sorority or fraternity.

 

Aura Neely-Gary Memorial Scholarship Fund

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 16

Applicant must be a student who is planning to enter a college or university in Mississippi. Preference will be given to students who desire to resume their education following a period of personal difficulties. Special consideration will be given for young women who had previously dropped out of school and are now enrolled at a post-secondary institution.

 

Anthony Gobar Juvenile Justice Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior at a public university in Mississippi or at Southern University in Louisiana majoring in criminal justice, political science, or counseling. Financial aid and strong commitment to community and public service must be demonstrated.

Applicant must be a graduating student at Jim Hill High School or a graduating student at Hinds Community College who plans to continue their education at a four-year institution.

Applicant must be a Madison Central High School graduate who has a strong interest in the natural sciences and submit an essay on the natural world. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.

Harrison Clark Scholarship Award

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Madison Central High School who will attend college as a full-time student. Minimum 2.75 GPA required.
