Admissions Academic Scholarship - Non-Resident

Award: $3,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must not be a Florida resident.

 

Out of State Fee Waiver

Applicant must have a minimum 3.2 GPA, minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200, and be an incoming freshman student or transfer student.

 

David Arver Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must attend an accredited vocational/technical school in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.

 

Carver Scholarship

Award: $5,200, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be currently enrolled as a sophomore at a participating four-year institution or one of Iowa's community colleges. Applicant must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and be a graduate of an Iowa high school or resident of Iowa for five consecutive years prior to application who has overcome some personal obstacle to have come this far in a college career (physical, financial, emotional, etc.). Financial need is required.

 

American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Iowa Scholarship

Award: $300, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must be an Iowa student attending or planning to attend an Iowa school.

 

Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award

Award: $6,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a junior in an Iowa high school or home school program who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university. Selection is based upon project proposals and letters of recommendation. Approximately 15 juniors are chosen to participate and then complete their projects over the summer between their junior and senior year. In the fall of their senior year they make presentations about their projects at the Hoover Presidential Library Museum in West Branch, Iowa. Recipients must attend an expense-paid weekend in June at the Hoover Historical Complex in West Branch and presentation day in October.

 

Donald and Shirley Hastings Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be majoring in a welding engineering discipline and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference given to applicants residing or attending school in Iowa, Ohio, or California. Financial need required.

 

NATAS - Upper Midwest Chapter/Foundation - Don Shelby Journalism Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a resident of Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, or Wisconsin who is a current student at an accredited college, university, or technical school majoring in broadcasting, television, or electronic media. Strong GPA, involvement in extra-curricular activities relating to major, demonstrated leadership, and creativity/passion for intended field of employment required.

 

Back to School Nursing Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 31; April 30; July 31; October 31

Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States who is at least 18 years of age or older at the time of registration and who plans to enroll in a previously unattended institution in the United States (award not open to residents in Florida, New York, Rhode Island or other states/territories). Applicant must be a nursing student. Response to why the applicant decided to pursue a nursing career is required.

 

Outstanding Senior Baseball Player Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: July 15

Applicant must be a participant in the Iowa American Legion Baseball Tournament and portray outstanding sportsmanship, team play, and athletic ability. Selection is by the State Baseball Committee.

 

Boy Scout of the Year Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February

Applicant must be a Boy Scout who exhibits outstanding service to his religious institution, school, and community and has received the Eagle Scout Award. Selection is by the Boy Scout Committee. Award must be used in state of Iowa.

 

Quarton McElroy Broadcast Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a senior graduating from an Iowa high school who will attend an Iowa college or university.

 

Joseph Collins Foundation Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must obtain application from the medical school authorities, complete it and return it to them for forwarding to the Foundation. Selection is based upon financial need, scholastic record and standing, demonstrated interest in arts and letters or other cultural pursuits outside the field of medicine, intention to specialize in neurology, psychiatry, or general practice, evidence of good moral character, and attendance at an accredited medical school located east of or contiguous to the Mississippi River.

 

Oratorical Contest Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: September

Applicant must attend an accredited high school in Iowa, enter the contest at the local level, and must plan to attend a college or university in Iowa.

 

Outstanding Citizen of Boys State

Award: $2,500, Deadline: July 15

Applicant must demonstrate outstanding citizenship while attending Iowa American Legion Boys State. Applicant must attend a college or university in Iowa. Selection is based upon the recommendation of Boys State Counselors.

 

Outstanding Citizen of Girls State

Award: $2,500, Deadline: July 15

Applicant must demonstrate outstanding leadership while attending Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. Applicant must attend a college or university in Iowa. Selection is based upon the recommendation of Girls State Counselors.

 

Iowa Federation of Labor AFL-CIO Graduate Assistantship

Award: -, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a member in good standing or the child or ward of a member in good standing (active, deceased or retired) of a local union affiliated with the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO. Applicant must be accepted into a graduate or professional program of study at The University of Iowa and not only profess an interest in labor education and research, but have the capabilities to offer assistance to the program at the University. Financial need is required.

 

Beau Mitchell Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,300, Deadline: March 1

Applicant should preferably be a non-resident student who is a former member of the Boy Scouts of America with strong moral character and an orientation toward the outdoors. Financial need required.

 

Nonresident Incentive Tuition Waiver

Award: $4,000, Deadline: February 1 (priority)

Applicant must be a nonresident of Oklahoma, have high GPA and ACT scores, and be the child or grandchild of OSU alumni/ae.

 

Sun Devil Scholarship

Award: $6,500, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a high school senior enrolling for the fall semester as a full-time student. Applicant will be automatically considered for the award once they have been admitted to the university.

 

Tuition Exemption Scholarship for Nonresidents

Award: $9,400, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a resident of a state other than Louisiana, have high standardized test scores, and an excellent academic record, especially in English and math.

Amigo Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 high school GPA with minimum composite ACT score of 23 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 1070) or have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA with a minimum composite ACT score of 26 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 1170). Applicant must not be from New Mexico.

Paul and Helen L. Grauer Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must have at least a novice class radio license and be attending school in the ARRL Midwest Division (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska). Preference is given to residents of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska and to applicants majoring in communications, electronics, or a related subject.

 

MGMA Midwest Section Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must reside in a Midwest section state and submit a letter stating career goals and objectives, a resume showing employment history with a brief narrative describing specific employment responsibilities in the health care field, and three letters of recommendation. Reference letters should address performance, character, potential to succeed, and need for scholarship support. Send for an application with a self-addressed, stamped, business-size envelope.

 

Scholarship for New Nebraskans
