Scholarships in Doctoral-level Study

Vermont Dental Hygiene Scholarship

Award: $8,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who will enroll in a dental hygiene program at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Academic achievement and financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Safe Water Scholarships

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be enrolled in a secondary education program related to the water industry, including community college, technical school, four-year undergraduate programs, and masters and doctoral programs. Applicants must be either an Illinois resident or enrolled in an Illinois secondary education program. This includes, but is not limited to such fields of study as water utility operations and management, civil or environmental engineering, environmental science and policy, chemistry, biology, or water resource management. Selection based on merit/academic performance, leadership/extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, personal statement outlining qualifications for the award, and essay on how applicant envisions contributing to the water industry in the future. Applicants with prior experience in the water industry are preferred.

 

Texas Transportation Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must have been enrolled in a school in Texas during some phase of education (elementary, secondary, or high school). Selection is based upon scholastic ability, potential, professional interest, character, and financial need.

 

Gianninoto Scholarship

Applicant must submit slide portfolio and letters of support.

 

Gilbreth Memorial Fellowship

Award: -, Deadline: November 15

Applicant must be an active IIE member, be enrolled full time, and have a minimum 3.4 GPA. Selection is based upon scholastic ability, character, leadership, potential service to the profession, and financial need.

 

David H. Liu Memorial Graduate Scholarship in Product Design

Award: $2,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must submit slide portfolio and letters of support.

 

Past Presidents Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must fit one of the two following categories: have a bachelor's degree in welding engineering, welding engineering technology, or an engineering program with an emphasis on welding; or be a graduate student pursuing master's or doctorate in engineering or management.

 

Elizabeth Massey Award

Award: $2,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a woman who is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant enrolled for post-graduate studies in music, painting, or sculpture in Canada or abroad.

 

Roxane Leopold Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who has been or is being served by King Street Center and will attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Vermont State Grange Harry H. Gibbs Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who's parent(s) are a member in good standing of a Vermont subordinate grange and plan to attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Academic achievement and financial need must be demonstrated.

 

United States Naval Academy Class of 1963 Foundation Scholarship

Award: $15,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be the wife, son, or daughter of a deceased member of the U.S. Naval Academy class of 1963.

 

Wilma Hoyal-Maxine Chilton Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 15

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Arizona for at least one year. Preference is given to honorably discharged veterans or immediate family members. Selection is based upon scholarship, character, financial need, and leadership. Resume listing background, activities, and goals, three letters of reference, and transcripts are required to be submitted.

 

Milton McKevett Teague Scholarship

Award: $2,250, Deadline: January 29

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or enrolled in an accredited college/business/trade school. Applicant must have been a Ventura County resident for a minimum of three preceding years and who shows school community involvement.

 

Delaware Space Grant College Graduate Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: April 24

Applicant must be a United States citizen who is performing aerospace-related research in areas such as design or technology.

 

Arkansas Congress of Parents and Teachers Scholarship

Award: $800, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a PTA member of any school.

 

Ph.D. Post Doctoral Research Program

Award: $30,000, Deadline: August 31

Award is to work in a urologic research lab.

 

Barry K. Wendt Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: June 2

Applicant must be a United States citizen attending a national college or university who exhibits a passion for a career in the aggregate industry. Letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor, a 300-500 word statement or essay explaining students' plans for a career in the aggregate industry, work experience or an internship (summer employee) are required.

 

Gordy and Gwen EMS Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be an active member, or the spouse or child or an active member, of a Vermont-licensed ambulance or first response squad in Addison or Chittenden County. Academic achievement, financial need, and community involvement/service must be demonstrated.

 

Mark P. Herschede Engineering Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: May 15; varies

Applicant must be a full-time graduate student studying engineering with a minimum cumulative grade average equal to or above the All Men's Average at the college or university to which they are attending (minimum 3.0 GPA when AMA is not available). Membership with Sigma Chi is required.

 

Olin Fellowship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be seeking to improve their knowledge or skills in advanced fields while looking for solutions to current problems in Atlantic salmon biology, management, and conservation.

 

Sagebrush Circuit Educational Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: June 10

Applicant must be a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club or be the son or daughter of an Appaloosa Horse Club member and major in an animal science-related subject. Selection is based upon scholastic aptitude, leadership potential, sportsmanship, community and civic responsibilities, and accomplishments in horsemanship.

 

Fred & Ginger Deines Canada Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen and enrolled at a college or university in Canada or the U.S. Selection is based upon scholastic ability, potential, professional interest, character, and financial need.

 

Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language

Award: $2,000, Deadline: June 4

Applicants must prepare a proposal following specific guidelines. Recipients must complete their research study within one year and submit a report of investigation to the Foundation. Applicants must request guidelines and forms to prepare an application. Master's level students must be enrolled in or accepted to a program ccredited by te American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Council on Academic Accreditation.

 

George and Marion Plossl Doctoral Dissertation Competition

Award: $2,500, Deadline: July 1

Applicant must be a candidate for a doctorate in operations management (or a closely related field) at a fully accredited university. Dissertation proposal approved by the thesis committee (not completed at the time of submission) is required to be submitted.

 

Furniss Foundation/AOS Graduate Fellowship

Award: $9,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must have a dissertation dealing with any aspect of orchid biology in the disciplines of physiology, molecular biology, structure, systematics, cytology, ecology, and/or evolution.

 

Vermont Sheriffs' Association: William Graham Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a dependent of a member of the Vermont Sheriffs' Association who will attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Academic achievement, financial need and school/community involvement must be demonstrated.

 

IEHA Education Foundation Scholarship Award

Applicant must be an IEHA member.

 

Fred & Ginger Deines Mexico Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be a Mexican citizen enrolled at a college or university in the U.S. or Mexico. Selection is based upon scholastic ability, potential, professional interest, character, and financial need.

 

Women in Geographic Education Award

Award: $500, Deadline: February 24

Applicant must be a woman with a minimum 3.0 GPA (3.5 in geography courses). Essay is required.

 

Graduate Scholarship for a Disabled Student

Award: $2,000, Deadline: June 18

Applicant must have a disability and must submit application form, cover letter describing goals, statement of good standing, official transcripts with GPA, confidential recommendations, and essay. Master's level students must be enrolled in or accepted to a program ccredited by te American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Council on Academic Accreditation.
