Vivian Schild Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum of 12 semester hours of chemistry courses that apply to major completed at GSW.

 

Chemistry Club Scholarship

Award: $200, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA and a minimum 3.0 chemistry GPA. Applicant must have completed a minimum of 48 semester hours and a minimum of 12 semester hours of chemistry at or above 2000 level. Applicant must have active chemistry club membership.

 

L.R. Towson Scholarship

Award: $125, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be classified as a junior by first semester of the award and must have completed 12 semester hours of chemistry above the 1000 level. Applicant must have two letters of recommendation by faculty member, one from outside the Department.

Applicant must have completed 18 semester hours of chemistry above the 1000 level and have two letters of recommendation, one from outside the Department. Selection will be based upon financial need if there are two or more equally qualified candidates.

Pashcal Scholarship

Applicant must be a female student who is enrolled full-time and has declared a major in computer science, mathematics, chemistry, biology, or engineering. Entering freshmen Scholars must have a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1050 with at least a 550 on the quantitative portion (or equivalent ACT score) and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Financial need and FAFSA required.

Joseph F. Nelson and Martha P. Nelson Scholarship

Applicant must be a high school graduate who has not previously attended a post-secondary institution and is in the upper ten percent of their class. Applicant must have completed at least three years of both mathematics and laboratory science, with a fourth year in one area, with all grades of "B" or higher.

Callendar Chemistry Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate strong academic performance and intent to pursue a career in pharmacy, pharmacology, or related chemical science, with the goal of a graduate degree in pharmacy or other appropriate field, or direct entry into a related career.

 

Richard Senne Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate financial need, academic promise, strong moral character, and plans for a career beneficial to mankind.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time. Preference is given to a chemistry majors, but science majors with a chemistry minor are considered.

 

Allen and Nobuko Secha Scholarship

Applicant must be an incoming freshman who recently graduated from high school with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and scoring in the top 10% on the SAT, ACT, or international equivalent tests; or being in the top 3% of their graduating class. Applicant must intend to pursue a major in chemistry, biology, mathematics, oceanography, or pre-medical studies.

 

Exxon Mobil Middle East and North Africa Scholars Program

Applicant must hold at least a bachelor's degree in geoscience, engineering, physics, chemistry, computer science, math, or geography. Applicant must be able to demonstrate a history of academic excellence and native fluency in Arabic, demonstrate English proficiency, exhibit exceptional leadership skills and cultural competency, be willing and able to travel to a regional location for a final selection activity, and be willing and able to reside in the United States for the full duration of study. Award is to assist in the completion of a master's or Ph.D. degree.

 

NSF Success Scholarship

Applicant must be an incoming freshmen with a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1100 (composite ACT score of 24). Financial need of at least $5,000 (determined by FAFSA) is required. Applicant must major in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology with a chemistry minor.

 

Marie Curie Scholars Program

Award: $18,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a recent high school graduate who plans to major in math, biology, engineering, or chemistry. Minimum 3.5 GPA and minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1020 (composite ACT score of 22) required.

 

Sertoma Club of Greenwood, Dr. Robert L. Hamill Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Johnson County high school who will pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited college or university in the field of biochemistry, chemistry, or microbiology.

 

Life Science Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a new entering student (fall term entry only) who has been accepted as a full-time student. Applicant must plan to major in one of the following disciplines: biology, biochemistry, environmental science, forensic science, or marine science (biology or chemistry).

 

Science Achievement Scholarship

Transfer Science Scholarship

Applicant must be a transfer student who possesses an associate's degree and who are majoring in a science field.

 

APWA Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior at a public university in Mississippi who is studying to enter the field of public works.

 

Noyce Scholars Program

Applicant must be an undergraduate student who majored in mathematics, biology, chemistry, or physics who plans to become a secondary-level teacher. Award begins with paid, education-related internships for 50 first- or second-year students (10 students per year). Among many valuable experiences, some participants serve as teaching assistants for Elon Academy, a college-access program for students with financial need and/or no family history of college. Two-year scholarships encourage talented STEM majors to complete a Teacher Education program to earn licensure (grades 9-12) in addition to their bachelor's degree in mathematics, biology, chemistry or physics. Three cohorts (6 students per year) receive a $21,900 scholarship during both their junior and senior years.
