SDE Fellowship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a woman who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

 

AIAA Graduate Award

Award: $5,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must have completed a minimum of one semester of full-time graduate study with a GPA of no less than the equivalent of a 3.3. Applicant must intend to enter into some field of science or engineering encompassed by the technical activities of AIAA. Selection is based upon scholarship, research plan, career goals, recommendations, and extracurricular activities. Upon receipt of award, recipient must become an AIAA member.

 

Eloise Gerry Fellowship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a woman who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

 

GSCAA Scholars Competition

Award: $3,500, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must have completed at least the first year of a collegiate turfgrass management program and be planning a career as a golf course superintendent. Selection is based upon academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and recommendations from college advisors and golf course superintendents or other employers. International students attending a US institution may also apply.

 

The SAPA Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be a high school senior who is planning to attend a full-time undergraduate program at an accredited four-year college/university with a major related to life sciences. Applicant must have a minimum 3.3 GPA, a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 2000, and be in the top tenth (or top quarter) of their class. Essay, two letters of recommendation, list of all awards received, list of Advanced Placement or Honors courses with grades, and transcripts are required to be submitted.

 

Edelstein International Studentship

Award: $16,500, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must have completed all requirements except dissertation for a Ph.D. in history of chemistry/technology and must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, financial statement, and research proposal.

 

Gordon Cain Fellowship in Technology, Policy, and Entrepreneurship

Award: $42,000, Deadline: December 1

Award is for historical research on the development of the chemical industries and for further understanding of the relationships between technology, policy, and entrepreneurship. Applicant must have a Ph.D. in history, history of science/technology, or a related field and must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and research proposal.

 

Glenn E. and Barbara Hodsdon Ullyot Scholarship

Award: $4,500, Deadline: February 15

Award is to advance public understanding of the importance of chemical sciences to the public welfare. Applicant must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and research proposal.

 

Societe de Chimie Industrielle (American Section) Fellowship

Award: $15,000, Deadline: February 15

Award is for research on the heritage of the chemical sciences or chemical process industries, for the stimulation of public understanding of the chemical industries. Applicant must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and research proposal. Preference is given to writers, journalists, educators, and historians of science, technology, and business.

 

Travel Grant

Award: $500, Deadline: February 15

Award enables interested individuals to make use of the Foundation's research resources. Applicant must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, budget, and research proposal.

 

Vogt Radiochemistry Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident enrolled in a U.S. institution, be a first-year graduate student doing or proposing research in radio-analytical chemistry or analytical applications of nuclear science, and must be sponsored by an ANS local section, division, student branch, committee member, or organization member.

 

Vessa Notchev Fellowship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a woman and an SDE/GWIS member, who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

 

Butler Polymer Research Laboratory Graduate Fellowship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a member of the Butler Polymer Research Laboratory with excellent grades and significant research progress, must be a good citizen of the polymer program, have completed degree requirements at least through the oral exam, and be nominated by faculty members of the Laboratory.

 

Horton Hydrology Research Grant

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduate student studying hydrology, water resources, or a closely-related field.

 

Allen H. and Nydia Meyers Foundation Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a student residing in a Lenawee County School District who is graduating from a Lenawee County High School. Appliacnt must be planning to attend a school of higher education and major in aeronautics or the sciences/allied fields.

 

Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Award

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a graduate-level student participating in a research endeavor as part of their engineering/science graduate studies; endeavors should include master's or doctoral thesis research and master's (non-thesis option) research projects.

 

Dr. H. Alan Ewart Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,150, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must demonstrate outstanding research ability.

 

Pearle A. Monroe Scholarship

Award: $590, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a chemistry major and have finished studies in chemistry.

 

Willy G. Schuh, Jr. Outstanding Senior Award

Award: $300, Deadline: January 30

Awarded to the outstanding senior Chemistry major at the Spring Honors Convocation. Applicant is nominated by the Chemistry Department faculty.

 

The Hubertus W.V. Willems Scholarship for Male Students

Award: $3,000, Deadline: April 28

Applicant must be a male student, majoring in engineering, chemistry, physics or mathematical sciences in undergraduate or graduate school. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Johnson County high school who will pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited college or university in the field of biochemistry, chemistry, or microbiology.

 

Odebrecht Award for Sustainable Development

Applicant must be an undergraduate student in an engineering, architecture, building/construction management, or chemistry field. Applicant must submit a paper that outlines contributions to sustainability.

 

Frank Weigel Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Wisconsin Dells High School who will pursue post-secondary education at a two- or four-year accredited institution in a science-related field.

 

David R. Jones IV Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: December 31

Applicant must have completed their sophomore year at an accredited college or university and be majoring in a field that is related to asphalt paving technology, such as civil engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry or other related majors. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and interest in the field of asphalt technology.

 

Eric D. Dunning Scholarship

Applicant must be an active member of Tau Kappa Epsilon pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering, or science. Minimum 2.75 GPA required.

 

Robert E. Dougherty Educational Foundation Scholarship Award

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 28

Applicants must be nominated for this award by a Robert E. Dougherty Educational Foundation member company or member institution. They must be North American citizens and be graduate or undergraduate students who are studying industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, forest products, wood science or wood technology. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Kathryn D. Sullivan Earth and Marine Science Fellowship

Award: $12,000, Deadline: January 23

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be either full-time graduate students enrolled in an accredited consortium member institution or a successful applicant for full time admission to a Masters or Doctorate program in an accredited consortium member institution. Selection is based on recommendation letters, academic merit, faculty sponsorship and stated academic goals and interests in science, technology and engineering.
