Essay answering the following question must be submitted: Why are government benefit programs (Lifeline Assistance Program, Food Stamps, Medicaid, etc) important resources for helping people with financial difficulties? What can we do to improve the effectiveness of these programs? Minimum 2.5 GPA required. Selection based upon originality, thoughtfulness, and insight. Recipient must provide a copy of their high school or college transcript and a high resolution headshot photograph of themselves.

Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States who is at least 18 years of age or older at the time of registration and who plans to enroll in a previously unattended institution in the United States (award not open to residents in Florida, New York, Rhode Island or other states/territories). Minimum 2.0 GPA and original photo that captures the theme of "expectations" are required. Students will need to submit a 250 word bio explaining declared major, future plans and why this scholarship interests you. Applicants will also need to submit a 500-750 word essay on "How can your major of study improve the lives of seniors in assisted living facilities in your town?" Selection based upon applicant who writes the most compelling essay.

Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and be enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States. Undergraduate students must be full-time with a GPA of at least 2.5 (C+). Graduate students may be full or part-time with a GPA of 3.0 (B). Applicant must demonstrate financial need. Renewal of the Agnes Jones Jackson Scholarship is competitive.
