Applicant must have completed at least the first year of a collegiate turfgrass management program and be planning a career as a golf course superintendent. Selection is based upon academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and recommendations from college advisors and golf course superintendents or other employers. International students attending a US institution may also apply.

Award is to further the knowledge and use of herbs and to contribute the results of research and study to the records of horticulture, science, literature, history, art, and/or economics. Applicant must be a United States citizen planning to enter into the commercial arboriculture industry. Applicant must be an entering or returning student at an accredited undergraduate institution in the United States.

Applicant must be a woman who is properly qualified and has proven ability by several years experience. Awards are made in recognition of leadership in cooperative extension work and initiative in scientific research. Applicant must submit a letter of application, plan of study, testimonials of character, ability, personality, small recent photograph, and scholarship, theses, papers or reports, and a certificate from the registrar of degrees awarded.
