GSCAA Scholars Competition

Award: $3,500, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must have completed at least the first year of a collegiate turfgrass management program and be planning a career as a golf course superintendent. Selection is based upon academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and recommendations from college advisors and golf course superintendents or other employers. International students attending a US institution may also apply.

 

Spring Meadow Nursery Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate landscape horticulture program or related discipline at a two or four-year institution. Students in vocational agriculture programs will also be considered. Applicant must be currently enrolled in good standing and carry full-time course load at the time of application and during the semesters for which the scholarship is granted. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to work within the industry (including nursery operation, landscape architecture/design/construction/maintenance, interiorscape, horticultural distribution, or retail garden center) following graduation. Must complete application online.

 

Muggets Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate horticulture, landscape, or related discipline at a two- or four-year institution. Students in vocational agriculture programs will be considered. Undergraduate students must have at least a sophomore standing in a four-year program or senior standing in a two-year program as of the fall semester of scholarship application year. Minimum 2.25 overall GPA required; 2.7 GPA required in major. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to work within the industry (including nursery operation, landscape architecture/design/construction/maintenance, interiorsacap, horticultural distribution, or retail garden center) following graduation. Research Grant

Award: $5,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must submit five copies of application and research proposal, including budget. Award is to further the knowledge and use of herbs and to contribute the results of research and study to the records of horticulture, science, literature, history, art, and/or economics. Award is for research only. Interview required.

 

Robert Felix Memorial Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a member of the Tree Care Industry Association or student member of the Student Society of Arboriculture. Advisor referral, two letters of recommendation, letter of intent, and completed application form are required to be submitted.

 

Timothy Bigelow Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a resident of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont, with a minimum 2.25 GPA (3.0 for graduate students), who is enrolled full-time in an accredited program at a two or four-year institution. Must complete application online.

 

Carville M. Akehurst Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a resident of Maryland, Virginia, or West Virginia who is a full-time student with a minimum 2.7 GPA. Applicant must follow horticulture or landscape as a field of study and be able to demonstrate interest in working in the green industry. Application must be completed online.

 

John Wright Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: June 15

Applicant must be a United States citizen planning to enter into the commercial arboriculture industry. Applicant must be an entering or returning student at an accredited undergraduate institution in the United States.

 

Sarah Bradley Tyson Memorial Fellowship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 20

Applicant must be a woman who is properly qualified and has proven ability by several years experience. Awards are made in recognition of leadership in cooperative extension work and initiative in scientific research. Applicant must submit a letter of application, plan of study, testimonials of character, ability, personality, small recent photograph, and scholarship, theses, papers or reports, and a certificate from the registrar of degrees awarded.

 

National Garden Clubs, Inc. Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen currently enrolled as a full-time student and have the endorsement of the State Garden Club from the state in which he or she is a permanent resident. Official transcripts, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, financial aid form, and list of extracurricular activity involvement/honors received must be submitted. Applicant should write to the above address for name and address of his or her State Scholarship Chairman.

 

American Society for Enology and Viticulture Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of North America, demonstrate financial need, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA for undergraduate award (minimum 3.2 GPA for graduate award).

 

James Roy Carter Jr. Endowed Presidential Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a South Carolina resident. Preference is given to residents of Chester, Lancaster, or York counties.

 

J.W. Jones Presidential Scholarship Endowment in Agriculture

Walter B. McKinney Annual Agricultural Scholarship

Applicant must be a South Carolina resident from a designated rural area as defined by the Farmer's Home Administration, have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate financial need.

 

Jeremiah Milbank Sr. Memorial Scholarship

Thomas Benton Young Sr. Memorial Annual Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Sumter, or Williamsburg County, S.C. and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

National Zoological Park Traineeship in Landscaping

Selection is based upon statement of interest, scholarship achievement, relevant experience, and letters of reference. Preference is given to advanced undergraduates and recent graduates.
