AGCO Corporation FFA Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicants must be current FFA members and high school seniors or college students planning to enroll or currently enrolled full-time. They must have one of the following undergraduate majors: agronomy, crop science, general agriculture, agricultural communications, education, journalism, extension, public relations, business management, economics, sales and marketing, engineering, mechanization, agriculture power and equipment or welding. Students only need to complete the online application one time to be considered for all FFA-administered scholarships. The application requires information about the student's activities and a 1,000-word essay. Awards may be used for books, supplies, tuition, fees and room and board. Students must show financial need and evidence of community service participation.

Students must be pursuing a four-year degree in one of the following agricultural fields: business management, economics, sales and marketing or finance. They must be residents of California, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota or Texas. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Mabel Mayforth Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: March 1

Applicants must be Vermont residents who are college juniors, seniors or graduate students and must major horticulture, landscape, design, conservation, forestry, agronomy, plant pathology or biology with a special interest in plants, ecology and allied subjects. They must be full-time students at an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Previous winners may reapply.

 

Benjamin C. Blackburn Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: April 2

Applicants must be New Jersey residents. They must be enrolled in the Landscape and Horticultural Technology Program at County College of Morris and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. If awarded the scholarship, the recipient will be expected to to give a 10-minute speech on his or her horticultural interests and goals at the Arboretum's annual meeting. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Thaddeus Colson and Isabelle Saalwaechter Fitzpatrick Memorial Scholarship

Award: $4,500, Deadline: March 15

Applicants must be female Kentucky residents who are attending a public college or university in Kentucky. They must be full-time undergraduate students who are rising sophomores, juniors or seniors and be majoring in a subject that is related to the environment (such as agriculture, horticulture, environmental engineering, biology or environmental studies). They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Garden Club of Ohio Inc. Scholarships

Award: -, Deadline: February 1

Applicants must be residents of Ohio and must be enrolled in a postsecondary degree program related to environmental science, plant science, horticulture, floriculture, city planning or wildlife. They must be rising undergraduate juniors, undergraduate seniors or graduate students and have a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

James F. Davis Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be rising freshmen or undergraduates at an accredited postsecondary institution located in Florida. They must be full-time students who are enrolled in or who are planning to enroll in a degree program in horticulture or a related subject. They must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

National Foliage Foundation General Scholarships

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or full-time undergraduate or graduate students. They must be enrolled in or planning to enroll in a horticulture or related degree program and must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. They must be interested in pursuing a career in foliage marketing or growing. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Harold Bettinger Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: May 1

Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens or residents. They must be graduate students or rising undergraduate sophomores, juniors or seniors. They must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. They must be horticulture students who are pursuing a major or minor in business or marketing, and must have plans to pursue a career in the horticulture business field. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Nurseries Foundation Award

Applicants must be majoring in horticulture. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Retail Chapter Awards

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicants must be majoring in ornamental horticulture or a related subject. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Perennial Plant Association Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicants must be enrolled in a two- or four-year degree program while majoring or minoring in horticulture or a related subject. They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a four-point scale. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible. Preference will be given to applicants who are planning to pursue careers in perennials. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

USDA/1890 National Scholars Program

Award: -, Deadline: December 31

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be rising undergraduate freshmen, sophomores or juniors who have a high school diploma or a GED. They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. They must plan to enroll or be enrolled at an 1890 Land Grant institution and have plans to major in agriculture; agriculture business/management; agriculture economics; agricultural engineering/mechanics; agricultural productions and technology; agronomy or crop science; animal science; botany; farm and range management; fish, game or wildlife management; food services/technology; forestry and related services; home economics/nutrition/human development; horticulture; natural resources management; soil conservation/soil science or other related disciplines (e.g., biological sciences, pre-veterinary medicine or computer science). They must also have proven leadership skills and must have experience with community service. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Rain Bird Intelligent Use of Water Scholarship

Applicants must be college juniors or fourth- or fifth-year seniors who are landscape architecture, horticulture or irrigation science students who have a demonstrated commitment to the landscape architecture profession and exhibit financial need. Applications can only be sent by email.
