Scholarships in Turf Management

GSCAA Scholars Competition

Award: $3,500, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must have completed at least the first year of a collegiate turfgrass management program and be planning a career as a golf course superintendent. Selection is based upon academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and recommendations from college advisors and golf course superintendents or other employers. International students attending a US institution may also apply.

 

Watson Fellowship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: October 1

Applicant must be planning a career in turfgrass research and instruction and be working on a master's or doctoral degree.

 

Carolinas Golf Association Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

Greater Pittsburgh Golf Course Superintendents Association Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: July 31

Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a postsecondary program emphasizing turf grass management. They must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Louisiana-Mississippi GCSA Turf Scholar Competition

Award: $2,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicants must be undergraduate students who are enrolled in an accredited two- to five-year degree program in golf course management or a related subject. They must have completed at least one year (24 credit hours) of the degree program. Selection is based on academic merit, level of professional preparation and career potential.

 

Ohio Turfgrass Foundation Scholarships

Award: -, Deadline: October 1

Applicants must be Ohio undergraduate or graduate students who are enrolled in a degree program that is related to turfgrass science. They must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and a major GPA of 2.75 or higher. Selection is based on academic merit, professional commitment to the turfgrass industry and financial need.

 

Oklahoma Golf Course Superintendents Association Legacy Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: August 30

Applicants must be pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in turfgrass management, members of the Oklahoma Golf Course Superintendent's Association (OGCSA) or family members of an OGCSA member. They must be enrolled or planning to enroll as full-time students at an accredited postsecondary institution. Selection is based on academic merit, extracurricular activities and financial need.

 

Robert M. Voorhees/Standard Golf Company Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: October 31

Applicants must be members of the Iowa Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSA). They must be Iowa residents or must be non-residents of Iowa who are enrolled at a postsecondary institution located in Iowa. They must be studying turfgrass management or a related subject. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.
