GSCAA Scholars Competition

Award: $3,500, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must have completed at least the first year of a collegiate turfgrass management program and be planning a career as a golf course superintendent. Selection is based upon academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and recommendations from college advisors and golf course superintendents or other employers. International students attending a US institution may also apply.

 

Huyck Research Grant

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be undertaking research on the Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve and the surrounding region. Applicants must submit a research proposal. Write for an application package.

 

Islamic Development Bank Loan Program

Award: $15,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident who is under the age of 24 and has confirmed admission into a professional degree program. Applicant must be majoring in one of the following areas of study: agriculture, dentistry, economics, engineering, food technology, forestry/fishery, media, medical technology, medicine, nursing, nutrition, pharmacy, political science, social science, or veterinary medicine. High academic achievement and financial need are required. Recipient must not be in receipt of any other loan.

 

Freehold Soil Conservation Scholarship (Neal W. Munch, Marvin 'Mac' Clark and William Schauer Scholarships)

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 25

Applicant must be a resident of Middlesex or Monmouth County, NJ, who is majoring in a field related to natural resources.

 

Arnold Magoon Conservation Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Vermont who will pursue a degree in biology, conservation, ecology, fish and game management, forestry, or a related field. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

James Roy Carter Jr. Endowed Presidential Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a South Carolina resident. Preference is given to residents of Chester, Lancaster, or York counties.

 

Dorchester County Marketing Association Annual Scholarship

Award: $750, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a resident of Dorchester County, S.C. and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA

 

Wallace O. Hardee Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a South Carolina resident and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Lehman M. Bauknight Scholarship

H.E. McCracken Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of the Bluffton, S.C. area and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Larry Sandifer Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Truman D. Picard Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 18

Applicant must have validated enrollment in a federally recognized Native American tribe or Native Alaska Corporation. Three letters of recommendation, letter of application, transcript, resume, and proof of application to an institution of higher education are required. Minimum award amount is for graduating high school seniors and maximum award amount is for college students.

 

Farmer's Telephone Cooperative Annual Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and be a resident of Williamsburg, Clarendon, Sumter, Lee or lower Florence counties in South Carolina.

 

Sumter County Farm Bureau Association Annual Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a resident of Sumter County, S.C. and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Thelma Crook Witt and Lee Harold Witt Scholarship

Award: $1,100, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a resident of Lexington County and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Bartlett Tree Foundation, Inc. Annual Scholarship

Applicant must plan a career in arboriculture and have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Muriel Rumsey Foundation Fellowship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a graduate student in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation. Selection is based upon financial need.

 

Shelley Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a graduate student conducting research primarily on the production and utilization of hardwood forests in Florida.

 

Associated Oregon Loggers Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be an Oregon high school senior who has been accepted to a four-year college or university education program in a forest resources production field of study.

 

Bartlett Tree Foundation Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: September 7

Applicant must rank in top third of secondary school class and have a minimum composite ACT score of 22. Transfer and upperclass applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must demonstrate an interest in a career in arboriculture or urban forestry.

 

Forestry Department Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 1 (Priority)

Applicant must be enrolled at the University of Missouri at Columbia.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

Helen Barnum Forestry Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 2

Applicant must be a forestry major with a minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need. All students who file a FAFSA by March 2 will automatically be considered for the award.

 

Oregon Foundation for Blacktail Deer Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be enrolling in a public or nonprofit college or university in the state of Oregon and pursuing a major in biology, forestry, wildlife science or related fields. FAFSA required.

 

Homer and Mildred Crank Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be a graduate of Columbus East, Columbus North or Hauser High School who will pursue post-secondary studies in environmental management, forestry, horticulture, landscape design, or plant science.

 

John W. Landis Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Wayne County high school who will pursue post-secondary education in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, home and farm economic, horticulture or solid and water conservation full-time. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

James H. Davis Memorial Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Palm Beach or Martin County, FL high school, Homestead High School, or South Dade High School who will major in agriculture, forestry, or horticulture at an accredited post-secondary institution in Florida. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Taking Root Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 30

Applicant must be a high school senior who plans to pursue full-time studies in entomology, environmental science, forestry, horticulture, plant sciences, or related major at an accredited two- or four-year college.
