Applicant must be pursuing a major in naval architecture, marine engineering, ocean engineering, mechanical engineering, or systems engineering. Minimum 3.2 GPA and minimum SAT critical reading score of 590, math score of 690, and writing score of 600 (composite ACT score of 30) required.

Focus on one of the following disciplines is required: civil and materials, electrical and computer, computer science, or mechanical engineering. Applicant must show evidence of above average academic performance (minimum GPA 3.0/4.0). Women of color (African American, Latina, Native American) are encouraged to apply. Application coversheet, biographical statement, current resume or CV (list your education and employment history), UIC transcript, proof of financial aid eligibility, proof of U.S. citizenship (copy of birth certificate or passport), and two letters of recommendation (include at least one from a UIC instructor) required.

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.
