Scholarships in Engineering

MSPE Auxiliary Grant

Award: $1,500, Deadline: First week of April

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Michigan resident, be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Michigan college, be a member of MSPE, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate intent to enter the engineering field after graduation. Selection is based upon academic record, extracurricular activities, professor recommendations, and leadership and other personal traits. Preference is given to children of MSPE members.

 

Commerford B. Martin Engineering Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be an unmarried member in good standing of Kappa Delta Rho with a minimum grade average of "B." Selection is based upon academics, financial need, and chapter, campus, and community involvement. Black and white photo of applicant in coat and tie required.

 

NALE Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 15 (fall); September 15 (spring); March 15 (summer)

Applicant must be at least one-quarter Native American and be an enrolled member of a U. S. tribe that is federally recognized, or terminated, with high GPA and test scores, and be enrolled in an accredited college or university.

 

Harry T. and Dorothy Zahars Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a current or past male graduate of a high school in the city of Elyria, OH, pursuing education in engineering, medicine, or in the sciences. FAFSA and Student Aid Report are required.

 

David C. Lizarraga Fellowship

Award: -, Deadline: March 17

Applicant must be a first-generation college student who is in need of financial support and is a permanent resident of one of the specified communities in California, Illinois, New York, or Texas. Applicant must be enrolled in a full time graduate program and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. A pool of applicants will be invited to an interview, where the recipient of the fellowship will be selected based upon leadership, professional/extracurricular achievement, commitment to development of communities, and financial need.

 

McKnight Doctoral Fellowships

Award: $17,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be an African-American or Hispanic student who holds a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Awarded to applicants who intend to seek a Ph.D. degree in the disciplines of arts and sciences, mathematics, business, or engineering.

 

Meridith Thoms Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be in an ABET-accredited engineering program, engineering at SWE-approved colleges and universities, or computer science in a CSAB-accredited program or at an ABET-accredited or SWE-approved institution.

 

Lydia I. Pickup Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a woman, have a minimum 3.5 GPA, and attend an ABET-accredited engineering program, engineering at SWE-approved colleges and universities, or computer science in a CSAB-accredited program or at an ABET-accredited or SWE-approved institution. Award is for education to advance applicant's career in engineering or computer science.

 

Thomas Edwin Nott IV Endowed Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a resident of Spartanburg County S.C. or Mecklenburg County N.C., and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

 

Allen H. and Nydia Meyers Foundation Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a student residing in a Lenawee County School District who is graduating from a Lenawee County High School. Appliacnt must be planning to attend a school of higher education and major in aeronautics or the sciences/allied fields.

 

West Virginia Engineering, Science, and Technology Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: Unknown

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien who is enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an engineering, science, or technology program leading to a certificate or associate or bachelors degree at an eligible institution of higher education. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

William Robert Simmons Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: September 30

Applicant must have a minimum 3.2 GPA, demonstrate an exuberant and inquisitive attitude toward learning. Applicant must qualify for Colorado in-state tuition, be enrolled for six or more credit hours per semester.

 

Leadership, Excellence, Achievement & Diversity Program Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a first generation college student and a student of color. Participation in minority Arts and Sciences program, Multicultural Engineering program or McNeils Academic program required.

 

Ruth E. Black Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 5

Applicant must be at least a part-time student, and be a resident of Hawaii. . Selection is based upon a minimum 3.0 GPA, and financial need. Preference is given to children of those in construction related fields: architecture and engineering.

 

Kotaro Kodama Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: January 5

Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii, be a full-time graduate student with a minimum 3.3 GPA, and demonstrate financial need.

 

SCSPE Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be attending an ABET accredited school in South Carolina with a minimum of 60 hours of engineering undergraduate studies completed. Minimum 2.0 GPA required.

 

Undergraduate Fellowship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: January

Applicant must be attending a SCSGC member institution in South Carolina.

 

Graduate Fellowship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January

Applicant must be attending a SCSGC member institution in South Carolina. The institution must match the $10,000 award with non-federal funds.

 

Kathryn Sullivan Fellowship

Award: $7,000, Deadline: January

Applicant must be attending a SCSGC member institution in South Carolina.

 

NASA-Glenn Research Center Minority Engineering Scholarship

Applicants must be incoming African-American or Hispanic descent freshman students admitted directly into the engineering college.

 

Faculty of Engineering Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: December 1

Selection is based upon academic merit. Award is in Canadian dollars.

 

Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship for Minorities

Award: $24,000, Deadline: November 14

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national who is an Alaskan Native, Native American, Black/African-American, Mexican American, Pacific Islander, or Puerto Rican.

 

Hopi Supplemental Grant

Award: $1,500, Deadline: July 31 (fall); November 30 (spring); April 30 (summer)

Applicant must be an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe. Entering freshman applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA or a minimum GED score of 45%. Continuing student applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Financial need is considered.

 

Dominick D. Critelli Jr. Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be the child or grandchild of an IFPTE member provided the student in a high school senior.

 

Chelsey Ayres, P.E., Memorial Grant

Award: $1,500, Deadline: first Monday in January

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Michigan resident, be accepted at an ABET-accredited Michigan college, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum composite ACT score of 26, and demonstrate intent to enter the engineering field after graduation. Selection is based upon high school record, extracurricular activities, essay, recommendations, and evidence of leadership, character, and self-reliance. Applicant must be a graduate of a high school in the Fairlane Chapter area.

 

Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Award

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a graduate-level student participating in a research endeavor as part of their engineering/science graduate studies; endeavors should include master's or doctoral thesis research and master's (non-thesis option) research projects.

 

Patricia and Armen Oumedian Engineering Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a resident of Kent or Ottawa County, Mich., for three years. Applicant must be a full-time student who has completed his or her first year at Kettering U, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Selection is based upon academic achievement, personal statement, and financial need.

 

Watson Transfer Scholarship

Canada's University Scholarship-Immersion Program

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, have a minimum 84% average, and have a diploma from an immersion program.
