New York Women in Communications Foundation Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a student from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania majoring or (for high school seniors) declaring a major in a communications-related field with a minimum GPA of 3.2. Selection is based upon academic excellence and need and involvement in the field of communications.

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student who intends to pursue or further a career in communications.

 

Young Professionals International

Award: $12,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who has recently graduated or is about to graduate from an institution which is a member of or affiliated with AUCC. Applicants who are presently studying in the United States are not eligible.

 

National Zoological Park Traineeship in Public Affairs

Award: $3,000, Deadline: December 31

Selection is based upon statement of interest, scholastic achievement, relevant experience, and letters of reference. Preference is given to applicants who have some computer skills and a desire to develop support for multicultural zoo audiences and to advanced undergraduates and recent graduates.

 

International Foodservice Editorial Council Annual Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary, degree-granting educational institution. Evidence of training, skill and interest in both foodservice and the communication arts are required.

 

Robert C. Ziegler '84 Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,050, Deadline: February 13

Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior student, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, submit evidence of outstanding achievement in communications, and demonstrate financial need.

 

HPRA Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: June 5

Applicant must be an outstanding undergraduate Hispanic student who is pursuing a career in public relations and related communications fields.

 

AWC Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a Washington resident attending a Washington four-year school. Selection is based upon financial need and academic achievement.

 

Richard J. Roth Journalism Fellowship

Award: $33,000, Deadline: April 28

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and enrolled full-time in an accredited program. Recipient will be placed in the Majority Press Office.

 

Glenn E. and Barbara Hodsdon Ullyot Scholarship

Award: $4,500, Deadline: February 15

Award is to advance public understanding of the importance of chemical sciences to the public welfare. Applicant must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and research proposal.

 

Patricia L. Shannon Scholarship

Harriet Irsay Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: July 1

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student who is a United States citizen or permanent resident (preferably) of Polish heritage.

 

John D. Graham Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: May 9

Applicant must be enrolled in a journalism program, public relations studies or courses preparing for a career in public relations, and entering their senior year of undergraduate studies in the fall.

 

Truman Scholarship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: February 7

Applicant must be a degree-seeking junior pursuing a career in public service and a U.S. citizen. Applicant must be in the top third of junior class. Nomination materials are available in mid-September.

 

J. Edward McEvoy Scholarship

Award: $1,240, Deadline: February 13

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a departmental 3.25 GPA. Statement of personal and professional goals and three references required.

 

J.D. Edsal Advertising Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 29

Applicant must be a Rhode Island resident who is a college undergraduate (sophomore or above) studying advertising (public relations, marketing, graphic design, film or broadcast production) with the expectation of pursuing a career in one more of those fields.

 

RDW Group, Inc. Minority Scholarship For Communications

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 21

Applicant must be a Rhode Island resident.

 

Judith L. Weidman Racial Ethnic Minority Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a United Methodist of racial ethnic minority heritage and must be a recent college or seminary graduate who has broad communications training, including an understanding of effective public relations. Applicant must consider pursuing communications for The United Methodist Church as a career. Fluency in English and ability to relocate for one year are required. Fellowship offers a mentoring experience intended to prepare the recipient for a communications career in an Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church in the United States.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

Advertising Club of Toledo Scholarship

Selection is based upon academic achievement, motivation, ability and potential demonstrated by essay submission and interview, recommendations, extracurricular involvement, and a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the greater Toledo area.

 

Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne Scholarship

Applicant must reside in an area served by the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne.

 

Hawaii State High School Communication Scholarship

Applicant must graduate from a Hawaii high school and plan to pursue a career in advertising, communication, corporate communication, journalism, speech, visual communications, or public relations.

 

Billings Broadcasters Media Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled full time, demonstrate financial need, and major in an area related to the broadcast industry.

 

HSF/HSBC-North America Scholarship Program

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage and enrolled as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam with a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicant must be a current undergraduate sophomore or a current community college student who is planning on transferring to a four-year college or university; thus having junior status in the upcoming academic school year. Resume and FAFSA are required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

HSF/GMAC SmartEdge Book Scholarship Program

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have plans to enroll as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at a four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

Public Relations Internship

Applicant must have strong computer skills, outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, efficient organizational skills and ability to multi-task, and exceptional customer service skills, creativity, and initiative. Cover letter, resume, two writing samples, and two letters of reference are required to be submitted. Internship is for 12 weeks in the spring.
