Princess Grace Awards in Theater, Dance, and Film

Award: $25,000, Deadline: March 31 (theater); April 30 (dance); June 1 (film)

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident. Applications, essays, letters of recommendation, resume, and work samples are required to be submitted.

 

Vollmer Scholarship in the Arts

Award: $18,306, Deadline: January 15

For music, award is based upon the audition for acceptance. For art, award is based upon a portfolio that must be presented to the department. For theatre, the award is dependent upon previous acting experience and a written statement. For dance, award is based upon the audition for acceptance.

 

TELACU Arts Award

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 6

Applicant must come from a low-income household, be a first-generation college student, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a permanent resident of unincorporated East Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Huntington Park, Montebello, Monterey Park, or South Gate.

 

TAHPERD Student Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student studying health education, physical education, recreation, and/or dance at a Texas college or university. Applicant must be a student member of TAHPERD as of March 1 of the application year and continue membership through the next year. Applicant must continue in the same program for fall and spring semesters as a full-time student during the academic year the scholarship is awarded. Letter from chair of applicant's department verifying the discipline in which the applicant is majoring and that he/she is a full-time student is required.

 

Theatre and Dance Activity Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must have outstanding ability in acting, performance studies, technical theatre, dance, and related activities. New students must present a performance audition or technical interview; videotape may be substituted for on-site audition.

 

Creative Arts Award

Award: $1,800, Deadline: October 31

Selection is based upon academic and artistic performance.

 

Dean's Special Talent Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 15

Selection is based upon talent and academic qualifications.

 

Talent Scholarship

Award: $1,200, Deadline: March 1

Audition is required.

 

Junior and Community College Performing Arts Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: September 16

Applicant must attend a public junior or community college in Alabama on a full-time basis. Selection is based upon talent demonstrated through competitive auditions. Financial need is not considered.

 

George E. Mylonas Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be an entering freshman student who plans to pursue an undergraduate major in Arabic; art history and archaeology; Chinese; classics/ancient studies; comparative arts; comparative literature; dance; drama; English; film and media studies; French; German; modern Hebrew; history; interdisciplinary project in the humanities; literature and history; Italian; Japanese; Jewish, Islamic, and Near Eastern studies; music; philosophy; religious studies; Russian studies; or Spanish.

 

Performing and Creative Arts Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must have a minimum 90 unweighted grade average and a minimum combined SAT I score of 1150 and must complete the audition process.

 

Talent Scholarship

Award: $9,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a full-time student and must audition or have a portfolio.

 

Trustee Talent Scholarship

Award: $24,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a full-time student who ranks in the top tenth of their class and has a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 2020. Talent applicants must audition or have portfolio.

 

Nordan Fine Arts Program

Award: $8,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must demonstrate exceptional talent in art, ballet and modern dance, music, or theatre.

 

Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must participate in Fine Arts Scholarship Day on campus and audition or submit portfolio.

 

Distinguished Artist Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a strong academic record and demonstrate talent in either visual arts, dance, music, theatre, or creative writing.

 

Presidential Scholarship

Award: $8,000, Deadline: March 15

Selection is based upon academic merit and talent. Scholarship cannot be combined with other merit scholarships offered by the university.

 

Henry & Chiyo Kuwahara Creative Arts Award

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 1

Award is to encourage creative projects reflecting the Japanese-American experience and providing cultural representation. Applicant must be a member of JACL. Selection is based upon personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, work experience, and community involvement. Professional artists are not eligible.

 

Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: December 3

Applicant must have a bachelor's degree in architecture, art, dance, landscape architecture, music, theater, regional or urban planning and be continuing on to graduate study. Preference will be given to applicants under the age of twenty-five.

 

School Talent Grant

Applicant must be a Colorado resident and a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

 

Theatre and Dance Merit Scholarship Auditions

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must have significant potential in the theatre arts and plan to major in theatre and dance. Performance applicants must audition; non-performance applicants must submit a portfolio of their work.

 

Dance Scholarship

Applicant must be a participant in the Modern Dance Company and exhibit talent and desire to dance either by establishing a minor in dance or by personally designing a dance major.

ACLS/New York Public Library Fellowship

Award: $65,000, Deadline: September 28

Applicant must identify specific resources and benefits to be gained from affiliation with the Center for Scholars and Writers. Applicant must be selected by both ACLS Committee and the New York Public Library. Applications must be submitted through the ACLS Online Fellowship Application system (OFA). OFA is accessible through the Fellowship and Grant Programs section of the web site. Applicant must apply separately to the Cullman Center at the New York Public Library (csw@nypl.org).
