Scholarships in Physical Therapy Assistant

Suburban Hospital Casey Scholarships

Award: $5,000, Deadline: November 30; April 30

Applicant must be a current employee who is enrolled in a nursing or allied health (e.g. radiology technology, respiratory therapy, medical technology, physical therapy, physical therapy assistant, occupational therapy, or physician assistant) undergraduate program or a non-employee who is enrolled in a nursing program leading to a B.S.N. or higher. Minimum 2.5 GPA, two letters of recommendation, transcript, and letter of acceptance/good standing required. Award requires a work commitment at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD, upon completion of degree program.

 

Quarterly Travel Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: January 6

Applicant must upload a scientific poster related to force measurement and testing. Selection based upon quality, contribution, and innovation of poster. Award is to defray costs of attendance for scientific conferences.

 

Octavia N. McKinley Scholarship

Award: $600, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must have attended Valley or Northwest High School (Scioto County, OH) and be planning to enroll full-time. Preference is given to nursing program applicants.

 

Physical and Occupational Therapists and Assistants Grant

Award: $2,000, Deadline: July 1

Applicant must be a Maryland resident, enroll in a Maryland school in a professional program leading to licensure, and must submit official secondary school and college transcripts.

 

UPS Diversity Scholarship

Award: $5,250, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student who is of a minority ethnic or racial group pursuing an undergraduate degree in occupational safety/health or a closely related field.

 

Janice Wiles Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must demonstrate outstanding courage, compassion, and dedication in their study area.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

Orfalea Scholarship Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or Ventura County high school graduate enrolling or already enrolled at an accredited vocational school, community college, or four-year college or university. Applicant must be an early childhood education or teaching major, or any major provided applicant is able to meet at least one of the following requirements: has a documented learning difference/is a non-traditional learner; is under 24 years of age and has a parent employed as a nurse, teacher (pre-K to grade 12), or at a non-profit agency; is under the age of 24 and is the child of a single parent; has completed the Montana Yellowstone Expedition Summer Program.

 

Orfalea Health Field Scholarship Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a Ventura County high school senior or graduate enrolling or already enrolled at an accredited vocational school, community college, or four-year university in a health-related field. Essay is required and it must specify intent to practice in Ventura County upon completion of studies.

 

Allied Healthcare Scholarship Program

Award: $4,000, Deadline: n/a

Selection is based upon financial need, career objectives within the next five to 10 years, community involvement, community background, and academic performance. Recipient commits to a one-year service obligation service practicing direct patient care in a medically underserved area (MUA) of California.

 

Marion A. Lindeman Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be an employee of Willamette View Health Care Center or Willamette View Terrace who will pursue a degree or certificate in nursing, occupational or physical therapy, or another health-related field at a public or nonprofit college or university. FAFSA required.

 

$10,000 Academic Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate student pursuing a degree in fields related to multi-axis force measurement and testing. Selection based upon quality, scientific contribution, and innovation.

 

New Castle Breakfast Optimist Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from New Castle High School who will attend a four-year accredited college or university and major in medicine, physical therapy, special education or a related field.

 

Daniel Altmiller Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Columbus East or Columbus North High School who plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in education, occupational or physical therapy at an accredited college or university.

 

Bay County Medical Society Auxiliary Merit Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a Bay County, MI resident who has completed one year of college in an accredited program of nursing, physical therapy, graduate medical school or another health-care related program. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Christian Care Retirement Community Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Wells County, IN high school who will pursue post-secondary education in the field of food preparation, medicine, recreational therapy or social services.

 

Lydia Murray Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Bluffton High School who will pursue a career in music therapy, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, special education or speech therapy.

 

Dana Lee Ballard Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Rising Sun High School who will pursue a bachelor's degree in fitness training, sports training or physical therapy. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Wallace & Catherine Lytle Family Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate from a Wayne County high school pursuing post-secondary education in the field of nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech therapy. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Therapy Professionals Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate an interest in physical, massage, recreational, or occupational therapy or psychology professions and be interested in attending a related undergraduate, graduate, or accredited training program at an accredited institution in the United States. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

John D Spurling OBE Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time student pursuing a program that promotes responsible pet ownership. Some examples include veterinary medicine, veterinary technology, animal care, animal behavior, and grooming and training majors. Scholastic record, community experience, and two letters of recommendation required.

 

Healthcare Career Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: September 12

Applicant must be a student currently enrolled in one of the following healthcare programs: cardiac ultrasound, health information management, medical technology, nursing, pharmacy, or rehabilitation services. Minimum 3.0 GPA and 500 word essay required on this topic: "Why did you choose your career path, what have you done to support it, and how would it benefit FHN's service area?" Finalists are required to participate in an interview.

 

Physical Therapist / Occupational Therapist Scholarship

Applicant must be entering or currently enrolled in a physical therapy or occupational therapy program. Transcript, proof of enrollment, and essay required. Resume is optional.

Applicant must be an incoming graduate student pursuing a career in physical therapy. Must be a legal resident of Northern Virginia (areas of Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties) and enrolled in a first professional doctor of physical therapy degree.

 

Arthur W. Pense Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled in a Physical or Occupational Therapy program in the state of New York. Nomination from Department Chairperson and letter of recommendation required.

 

Linda Craig Memorial Scholarship Presented by St. Vincent Sports Performance

Award: $2,500, Deadline: April 15

Applicants must U.S. citizens who have completed at least one full year of an undergraduate program majoring in medicine, sports medicine, physical therapy or a related area. They must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and demonstrate outstanding character, integrity and leadership. Applicants may not have received a full scholarship from any other organization.

 

Health Research and Educational Trust Health Career Scholarships

Applicants must be New Jersey residents. They must be undergraduate juniors, undergraduate seniors or graduate students enrolled in a nursing, allied health professions, healthcare administration or hospital administration degree program. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on the quality of the personal essay submitted as part of the application.
