Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

College of Business, Information, and Social Sciences Dean's Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and a minimum SAT reading and math combined score of 1200 (composite ACT score of 26). Three recommendations and a 1,000-word essay describing the applicant's professional and personal long-range goals are required.

 

Vincent E. Spezzano Memorial Award for Excellence in Communication

Applicant must demonstrate extracurricular or professional communication activities.

 

Dr. Amy Tolbert Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate academic and co-curricular achievement and financial need.

 

Christine Pagano Stralitz '53 Memorial Scholarship

Herbert L. Frink Memorial Scholarship

Advertising Club of Toledo Scholarship

Selection is based upon academic achievement, motivation, ability and potential demonstrated by essay submission and interview, recommendations, extracurricular involvement, and a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the greater Toledo area.

 

Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne Scholarship

Applicant must reside in an area served by the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne.

 

Craig F. McLean Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference given to English or Communication majors and those with a military background.

 

Hawaii State High School Communication Scholarship

Applicant must graduate from a Hawaii high school and plan to pursue a career in advertising, communication, corporate communication, journalism, speech, visual communications, or public relations.

 

Debate Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate intent to pursue a degree in the College of Communication, and be an active participant in the debate program. Graduate Assistants acting as debate coaches are also eligible for the scholarship.

 

Kalamalama Journalism Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate intent to pursue a degree in Journalism or Strategic Communication or a career in a related industry, and commit to a 10-hour per week work assignment.

 

School of Communication Alumni Scholarship

Freshman applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be registered full time in the School of Communication. Graduate applicant must be entering the School of Communication with a minimum 3.5 GPA.

 

Billings Broadcasters Media Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled full time, demonstrate financial need, and major in an area related to the broadcast industry.

Greek American Journalism Scholarship/Peter Agris Memorial

Applicant must be of Greek/American heritage and be a current full-time journalism or communications major at the graduate or undergraduate level in an accredited college or university in the United States. Active participation in school, community, church organizations, financial need, and a minimum 3.0 GPA are required. Scholarships are presented each spring at Alpha Omega Council's Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner, during which time a noted individual or organization from within the Greek/American community is recognized for contributions to Hellenic and Orthodox ideals.

 

ISF Scholarship

Applicant must be Muslim or an active member of the Muslim community who is enrolled at an accredited university as an undergraduate (sophomore, junior, or senior) or graduate student (including Ph.D.) in the United States who is majoring in one of the sponsor's supported majors as found on their website. Minimum 3.0 GPA and United States citizenship/permanent residence required.

 

HSF/McNamara Family Creative Arts Project Grant

Award: $20,000, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university in the United Stats, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands majoring in the arts, including but not limited to media, film, performing arts, communications, or writing. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

HSF/Nissan Community College Transfer Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must be currently enrolled at a community college with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have plans to transfer and enroll as a full-time student pursuing a degree in business, engineering, communications, or media arts at a four-year accredited institution. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

Mississippi Media Professional Scholarship

Publications Internship

Award: -, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must have strong computer skills, outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, efficient organizational skills and ability to multi-task, and exceptional customer service skills, creativity, and initiative. Cover letter, resume, two writing samples, and two letters of reference are required to be submitted. Internship is for 12 weeks in the spring.

 

AWeber Email Marketing Scholarship

Applicant must be a currently enrolled full-time college freshman, sophomore, or junior, or a high school senior in the United States. A 500-word essay on specific questions required.

Applicant must be a college junior, senior or graduate student majoring in public relations, journalism or communications and intending to pursue a career in public relations.

 

Education Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree with a communications/marketing-related major (such as advertising, marketing, graphic design, photography, interactive marketing, copywriting, public relations, web design, media planning, etc.) at an Ohio college or university. Applicant must be enrolled in their junior or senior year and live in Ohio, and qualify for in-state tuition. Full course-load and minimum 3.0 GPA are required.

 

Maxine and Inza McDowell Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Benson High School. FAFSA required.

 

Susan and James Huff Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduate of St. Helens High School. FAFSA required. Preference to those majoring in communications, journalism, or a related field at a college or university in Oregon.

 

Dr. Larry Horney Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 16

Applicant must be a graduating senior from New Castle High School who will attend an accredited four-year college or university majoring in communications, education or journalism. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
