Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a departmental 3.25 GPA. Statement of personal and professional goals and three references required.

 

AL Muammar Scholarship For Journalism

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a commitment to the field of journalism as well as sensitivity to Arab American issues. Community involvement and initiative in social advocacy and civic empowerment required. Applicant must demonstrate journalistic and academic ability as well as financial need.

 

Carlos M. Castaneda Journalism Scholarship

Award: $7,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Spanish-speaking journalist or journalism student who is proficient in the Spanish language and who is able to write in that language at a professional level. Candidate must also demonstrate a sincere desire to pursue a career in the field of journalism in Spanish, have knowledge and interest for Hispanic culture and be up-to-date on current events in Latin America. A second year scholarship may be granted after viewing the recipient's grade point average, general performance, and recommendations of his/her professors.

 

CMP Pub. Scholarship for Minority Students in Journalism or English

Applicant must be a strong minority role model and demonstrate that he/she intends to pursue a career in journalism or English.

 

Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be planning a career in journalism. One recipient will be chosen from each state and the District of Columbia.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

Special Undergraduate Academic Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum combined SAT I score of 1500 (composite ACT score of 21).

 

College of Business, Information, and Social Sciences Dean's Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and a minimum SAT reading and math combined score of 1200 (composite ACT score of 26). Three recommendations and a 1,000-word essay describing the applicant's professional and personal long-range goals are required.

 

Arnold C. Brackman Memorial Scholarship

Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and live in the 18-county southeastern Colorado area covered by the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper. Applicant must submit a letter addressing educational and career goals and community service.

 

Jim Koressel Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be an English major with a journalism emphasis, and must demonstrate financial need.

 

Janet S. Meeker Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be a graduate of Chatfield High School and major in English or prejournalism.

Greek American Journalism Scholarship/Peter Agris Memorial

Applicant must be of Greek/American heritage and be a current full-time journalism or communications major at the graduate or undergraduate level in an accredited college or university in the United States. Active participation in school, community, church organizations, financial need, and a minimum 3.0 GPA are required. Scholarships are presented each spring at Alpha Omega Council's Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner, during which time a noted individual or organization from within the Greek/American community is recognized for contributions to Hellenic and Orthodox ideals.

 

Francis L. Waugh Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a South Dakota resident with a minimum 3.0 GPA and 15 credit hours per semester. Preference will be give to an applicant who: plans on working for either the South Dakota Game and Fish Department or the Colorado Game, Fish & Parks Department; plans on working for the Game & Fish departments of any other state; is planning a career in Wildlife Management (state, federal, or private); or is planning a career in photography and/or journalism.

FAFSA required. Preference given to nontraditional students attending a college in Oregon with a 3.6 GPA or higher.
