Urban Design Fellowship

Award: $7,500, Deadline: December 9

Applicant must be nominated by his or her school and be graduating from a master's degree program in urban design. Applicant must submit portfolio and travel plan. Award is for post-graduation travel and study.

 

Freehold Soil Conservation Scholarship (Neal W. Munch, Marvin 'Mac' Clark and William Schauer Scholarships)

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 25

Applicant must be a resident of Middlesex or Monmouth County, NJ, who is majoring in a field related to natural resources.

 

Timothy Bigelow Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a resident of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont, with a minimum 2.25 GPA (3.0 for graduate students), who is enrolled full-time in an accredited program at a two or four-year institution. Must complete application online.

 

Carville M. Akehurst Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a resident of Maryland, Virginia, or West Virginia who is a full-time student with a minimum 2.7 GPA. Applicant must follow horticulture or landscape as a field of study and be able to demonstrate interest in working in the green industry. Application must be completed online.

 

Edward D. Stone Jr. and Associates Minority Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a minority student and submit an essay, financial aid forms, color slides or black-and-white photographs of best work, and two letters of recommendation.

 

National Garden Clubs, Inc. Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen currently enrolled as a full-time student and have the endorsement of the State Garden Club from the state in which he or she is a permanent resident. Official transcripts, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, financial aid form, and list of extracurricular activity involvement/honors received must be submitted. Applicant should write to the above address for name and address of his or her State Scholarship Chairman.

 

Regents Professional Opportunity Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be beginning or already enrolled in an approved degree-bearing program of study in New York State that leads to licensure in a particular profession. Purpose of award is to increase representation of minority and disadvantaged individuals in New York State licensed professions.

 

National Zoological Park Traineeship in Landscaping

Award: $3,000, Deadline: December 31

Selection is based upon statement of interest, scholarship achievement, relevant experience, and letters of reference. Preference is given to advanced undergraduates and recent graduates.

 

AWA Scholarship Awards

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 16

Applicant must be a California resident attending an accredited school in California who has completed at least 18 units in their major in a program granting a degree or certificate. Selection is based solely upon merit.

 

Edith H. Henderson Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must submit typewritten essay (200-400 words) in review of Edith H. Henderson's book Edith Henderson's Home Landscape Companion and have participated in a public speaking or creative writing class.

 

Harriet Barnhart Wimmer Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a woman who has demonstrated excellence in design ability and sensitivity to the environment. Applicant must submit typed, double-spaced autobiography of personal and professional goals (500-word maximum), one letter or recommendation, graphic samples of work, and financial aid forms.

 

Hawaii Chapter/David T. Woolsey Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii and submit a typed, double-spaced autobiography/statement of personal goals (500-word maximum), sample of design work, and two letters of recommendation.

 

LAF/CLASS Fund Scholarship and Internship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must demonstrate academic, community, and professional involvement and submit a 300-word (maximum) statement on landscape architecture, 100-word (maximum) statement indicating intended use of funds, and letters of recommendation.

 

Rain Bird Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must submit essay and demonstrate commitment to the profession through participation in extracurricular activities and exemplary scholastic achievements. Financial need is considered.

 

Raymond E. Page Scholarship

Applicant must submit a double-spaced, two-page essay and a letter of recommendation.

 

William J. Locklin Scholarship

This scholarship emphasizes the importance of 24-hour lighting in landscape design. Applicant must submit essay, visual samples, and letter of recommendation.

 

AILA/Yamagami/Hope Fellowship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: August 1

Applicant must have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture, have been in in professional practice for at least three years, and wish to continue education. Applicant must submit a summary (500-word maximum), statement of intent (100-word maximum), and two letters of recommendation. Selection is based upon innovative nature of proposal, benefits to the profession, acheivement of personal goals, and applicant's qualifications.

 

Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: December 3

Applicant must have a bachelor's degree in architecture, art, dance, landscape architecture, music, theater, regional or urban planning and be continuing on to graduate study. Preference will be given to applicants under the age of twenty-five.

 

FFGC Scholarship in Garden Club Objectives

Applicant must be a resident of Florida, will attend or is attending a Florida school, and must demonstrate financial need. Work transcript, personal letter, photo, letters of recommendation, and interview required.

 

FFGC Scholarship in Landscape Architecture

Applicant must be a resident of Florida, must attend or be planning to attend a Florida school, and must demonstrate financial need. Graduate applicants must attend a Florida school that is accredited by the American Society of Landscape Architects. Work transcript, personal letter, photo, letters of recommendation, and interview required.

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.
