CMP Pub. Scholarship for Minority Students in Journalism or English

Applicant must be a strong minority role model and demonstrate that he/she intends to pursue a career in journalism or English.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

Allison Preston Goodheart Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum 3.25 GPA and complete 40 hours of community service.

 

Marjorie Urban Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a graduating senior residing in Hansford, Lipscomb, or Ochiltree counties in Texas, who exhibits community service and leadership and will major in music or religion. Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA required while in college.

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Benson High School. FAFSA required.

 

Buerkle Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduate of a Jackson, Klamath, or Josephine County high school who will pursue a degree in english, journalism, math, music or physical education at a public or nonprofit college or university. FAFSA required. Preference given to nontraditional students attending a college in Oregon with a 3.6 GPA or higher.

 

Psi Iota Xi, Omega Chapter- Malpas Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a female graduating senior from Lebanon High School who ranks in the top third of her class and will pursue post secondary education in art, literature, music or speech and hearing. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

Marjorie Stonehill- English, Journalism & Creative Arts Scholarship

Award: $750, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Boone County high school who will major in creative arts, english, or journalism and is in the top 30% of their class. Essay and minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Patty Helland Memorial Scholarship

Award: $250, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Wisconsin High School who will enroll in a liberal arts program. Essay or poem submission required.

 

James D. Morrison Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Pleasant Valley High School who will enroll full-time in an accredited post-secondary institution.

 

Bennie Raine Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Moore High School who will major in english or journalism. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Nelson DeMille Endowed Scholarship in English

Applicant must be an entering freshman at Hofstra University who will major in English and has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.

 

Stephanie G. Hoffman Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a Jewish undergraduate or graduate student who has been accepted to or is attending an accredited college or university program and is majoring in library science, English literature, or related field with the intention of working with underserved children to excite them through reading to pursue higher education. Applicant's parents must be permanent residents of the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

The Concord and Carlisle Authors Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a current or past resident of Carlisle, MA or Concord, MA pursuing undergraduate studies who demonstrates a passion for literature or writing.

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Palm Beach or Martin County, FL high school in the top 15 percent of their class who will major in english literature, history, or secondary education.

 

Bree Elizabeth Miller Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate of Hendersonville High School who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university. Preference will be given to applicants who are pursuing a degree in English or international studies, though others will be considered. Minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need are required.

 

Robert C. and Lillian DuSoe Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior of the Laguna Beach Unified School District or Santa Ana Unified School District who plans to attend an accredited college/university majoring in writing or music. Financial need must be demonstrated. Essay required.

 

ILA Jeanne S. Chall Research Fellowship

Applicants must be doctoral students planning or beginning their dissertation on one of the following topics in the field of reading: beginning reading, readability, reading difficulty, stages of reading development, the relation of vocabulary to reading and diagnosing and teaching adults with limited reading ability. Applicants must also be members of the International Literacy Association.

Davidson Fellows Scholarships

Award: $50,000, Deadline: February 12

Applicants must be under the age of 18 and be able to attend the awards reception in Washington, DC. In addition to the monetary award, the institute will pay for travel and lodging expenses. Three nominator forms, three copies of a 15-minute DVD and additional materials are required.
