Scholarships in Culinary Arts

IRA Educational Foundation Scholarship

Award: $11,000, Deadline: May 15

Applicant must be permanent resident of Illinois.

 

AIWF Culinary Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a Vermont resident who has lived in Vermont for at least 10 years and will pursue a degree in the culinary arts at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Essay, letter of recommendation and financial need required.

 

Ruth Binnie Fellowship

Award: $6,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a woman who is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who is enrolled in a masters or doctoral studies program with a focus on one or more aspects of home economics. Study abroad students are also eligible to apply.

 

Culinary Arts/Nutrition/Physical Education Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be an African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Latino/Hispanic, enrolled in an approved program at a California institution. Undergraduate applicant must have 50 semester units completed and a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Graduate applicant must have 12-15 units completed and a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Four copies of a personal statement, two recommendations, a 500- to 1,000-word essay, official transcripts, photo, and application are required to be submitted.

 

International Foodservice Editorial Council Annual Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary, degree-granting educational institution. Evidence of training, skill and interest in both foodservice and the communication arts are required.

 

Ray & Gertrude Marshall Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 15; June 15; October 15

Applicant must be a member of the ACF, and must have completed one grading period in a culinary arts program.

 

NHLRA Hospitality Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: Last Friday in April

Applicant must be a New Hampshire resident entering the first year of a U.S. hospitality or culinary degree-granting institution.

 

C-Cap Careers Through Culinary Arts Program

Award: $36,000, Deadline: February 9

Applicant must be enrolled in a C-CAP program.

 

Skills USA Championship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: End of June

Students who are members of SkillsUSA may compete in local, state, and national championships. The winners of the national championships are awarded the following scholarships. Winners of the Advertising Design, Culinary, Photography, and Web Design championships will be awarded a $20,000 tuition scholarship. Winners of the 3-D Visualization and Animation as well as the Television Production championships will be awarded a $10,000 tuition scholarship. Each Art Institute has a limited number of scholarships. Winners are permitted to choose The Art Institute location of their choice and scholarships will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis.

 

Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition

Award: $30,000, Deadline: February 10

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Entry form, high school transcript, and paragraph stating why he/she would like to be a culinary professional, and identify who inspires them and why required. Notebook with the following required: a menu with descriptions for a two-course meal, including an appetizer, soup or salad, and a main course wit a sauce, garnish, vegetable, and starch. Also include a detailed recipe and directions for each course.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

Shoney's Culinary Arts Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be enrolled on a full-time basis in the culinary arts or hospitality programs. Selection is based upon financial need.

 

Hector Boiardi Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: None

Selection is based upon academic achievement and financial need.

 

North Carolina Restaurant Association Hospitality Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must either be a high school senior, community college student, university student or graduate student pursuing hospitality and tourism. Up to 10 High School Students' Scholarships, up to five Two-Year Program Scholarships, up to five Four-Year Program Scholarships, and up to four Graduate Student Scholarships will be awarded.

 

Vince DeFinish Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be an undergraduate student who is currently enrolled as a full-time student (12 credits or more) in an accredited hospitality, culinary, or related program. Completion of 60 credits is required in order to be eligible. Selection will be based upon an essay and two letters of reference. Recipient will receive a complimentary student membership in the National Association of Catering Executives.

 

Kaneta Foundation Vocational Education Scholarship (VocEd)

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a student in a culinary arts program within the University of Hawaii Community College system.

 

Academic Scholarship for First-Time Freshmen, General Education Diploma (GED) Graduates and ProStart Students

Award: $2,500, Deadline: August 17

Applicant must be a high school senior, GED graduate, ProStart student, or first-time freshman who is enrolling in a restaurant or food service-related program.

 

Al Schuman Ecolab First-Time Freshman Entrepreneurial Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: August 17

Applicant must be a recent high school graduate/first-time freshman who has been accepted/enrolled in a food service related program.

 

Rachael Ray's Yum-o! Organization Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: August 17

Applicant must be a high school senior, GED graduate, ProStart student, or first-time freshman who is enrolling in a restaurant or food service-related program.

 

Oregon Wine Brotherhood Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a resident of Oregon or Washington who will major in culinary arts, enology, or viticulture at Chemeketa, Central Oregon, Lane, Mt. Hood, Southwestern Oregon, Umpqua, or Walla Walla Community College, Oregon State University, or the University of California at Davis. FAFSA required.

 

Technical Training Fund

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduate of an Oregon high school who demonstrates extraordinary technical or artistic potential in the areas of craftsmanship, manual skills, art, music, culinary arts, or other related areas. FAFSA required.

 

Columbus Herb Society Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or high school graduate residing in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson or Shelby County who plans to study full-time at an accredited college or university in the field of botany, culinary arts, horticulture, or a related area.

 

Luszczak Family Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior who will pursue a degree in business management, culinary arts or nature conservancy at a two- or four-year college, technical or trade school. Financial need and minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

Pizza Pub Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Wisconsin Dells High School who will pursue a program of study in culinary arts, hospitality or tourism.

 

Christian Care Retirement Community Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 30

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Wells County, IN high school who will pursue post-secondary education in the field of food preparation, medicine, recreational therapy or social services.

 

Sergeant Eric Hull Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a resident of Fayette County, PA planning to attend or currently attending a culinary school or college.

 

Ione & Vincent Berg Family Scholarship

Award: $250, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a Fox Valley Technical College student enrolled in the culinary arts program or hotel restaurant management program who has maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA and has financial need.

 

American Restaurant Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: May 15

Applicant must be a high school senior or graduate who is currently enrolled or plans to enroll at a licensed or accredited culinary school.
